i take 0 protein supplants. any protien i eat is mainly tuna. I am not saying protein shakes are bad, it just depends on what u are going for. If you wish to get huge and strong yes, alot of protein shakes and whey will do you good. but to me, its false muscle. As soon as you stop buying and drinking all of those shakes you will get smaller. This is akin to those Jenny craig girls, oh i am slim, as long as i only eat these jenny craig shakes. second they stop and go back to their normal lifestyle, they balloon up.

The one and only suppliment i take is no xplode b/c all it is is energy - no protein or other growths. i still have to go to the gym and earn the muscle. So if i stop taking no explode (or any other sole energy booster), i will have smaller increases, but no decreases.

That's said, your shakes are not bad, it just depends on what you want. As for what you are doing, i have heard having a shake or two a day helps.

Looks like a lot of protein to me, maybe too much (2 shakes + chicken + tuna in one day). Eat more whole grains and veggies. Also consider adding some good fats, almonds or other unsalted nuts are good, or natural peanut butter.

his protien intake, while high, may not be bad. if he is doing serious lifts 3-4x a week, he might need it. hard to say w/o his schedule

I haven't yet figured out my workout schedule because i dont know what workouts to do and when.

I have outlined this so far:

3 days a week, with alternating workout schedules on a biweekly basis.

ABA - BAB

in the 5x5 format.

Any suggestions on what workout positions i should do and which I should group them with?

i have my schedule somewhere on this board, you can take a look at that for starters. I wouldnt rec. that you do it verbatim, i have knee trouble so u wont find any squats or deadlifts on there.

calories might be too low. calculate your needs with an online calculator and increase by 10-15%, check against what you are eating.

for workouts, pick either rippetoe starting strength 3x5 or bill starr 5x5 both should be linked in the useful resources thread. again I recommend the starting strength from rippetoe it's a very simple workout and good for overall body strength, once you get that down you can move on to whatever you want, at least you will have a better idea what that is by then.

if you need to know which exercises work which muscles go to exrx.net also linked in useful resources thread. you really should just try and get in a gym asap because it's been a bit since I've seen you asking about this stuff now and I'm unsure what is holiding you back.

looks nice and clean to me. are u looking for weight loss or muscle growth? or, i guess i should say, do you want to look bigger or smaller.

im bad at diet shit and really need to harness that if im ever going to see my goals.

i use biolabs 'metobolic drive' whey and i like it, but one of this people who needs a low carb protien shake because im retaining fat. im no where near my lean body goal.

its pretty cheap and it tastes fine (choc. never tried other flavors) and it doesn't make me fart uncontrollably.

:domotwak:

maybe you are thinking of steroids? Protein requirements to build muscle are different than the protein requirements to maintain them.

Also, protein shakes are not 'bad' no matter what you want. If you are skipping out on other nutrients, that's bad, but that has nothing to do with protein shakes. You have to be eating pretty bad to miss out on vitamins\nutrients when you are eating a calorie surplus.

If your trying to bulk you need some more carbs make some black beans and rice with that chicken and tuna. Also steamed broccoli is good lots of fruit for snacks protein is to soon get into a good routine then start using it. You will have steady gains from the diet change when you plateau thats when you wanna switch the routine up and grab you some protein. :D

You need more calories. Less carbs and more protein. If you aren't putting away at least 3000 calories a day, you aren't growing. For breakfast try going with eggs and sausage or bacon or something similar. If you can stomach drinking eggs raw, that's an excellent choice although I've heard mixed reviews about the bioavailablity of raw egg; however I do it and it seems to be working out pretty well so far. You are eating every few hours, which is also good but I would definitely recommend more protein and fats. Put peanut butter on your bananas, eat a tin of peanuts throughout the week, get creative.

Bottom line: More calories.

to paraphrase one of those better lifting sources saying that lifting is half nutrition or more than half nutrition or whatever is a bunch of nonsense for regular people and something steroid users made up.

I'd worry more about ur form on what will be your big lifts and WAY WAY WAY less on what you're eating

Is this a fakepost? Bodybuilding is 90% nutrition.
