This has probably already been a thread, but refresh me

what's the best/most-common lock leveling build with the least downtime and dying

Is it still affliction? As a person who never took lock past 20, demonology really interests me - is it possible to level with demonology?

I think affliction until you can get a felguard. Then probably either one.

Putting my first 5 to get the instant corruption like i always have, but was just trying to figure if i should keep going affliction or go down demonology

Just hard to pass up making corruption an insta cast DoT while leveling

Aye, however affliction is great no matter the level - just stack shadow damage out your ass. Once you get siphon life, drain tanking multiple mobs at once is a breeze and dark pact makes for 0 downtime. Either way, definitely stay away from the demo tree until you can get a FG.

My brother has a lock so I actually know something about this. Go Demonology.

That one, though I never used a Felgaurd yet and I love Affliction...

affliction is gonna have way better dps/time than demonology

imp dots, imp drain tanking > anything demonology has to offer

affliction all the way up to 70 is the easiest way.

SL/SL at 70 is a rather decent grinding build as well. SL is key when grinding multiple mobs

I levelled as demonology way back in the day (this was at release). It makes your pets pretty good grinding tools and soul link was way different back then - it was a castable buff that split damage 50/50 with your demon. Once you get your succubus and unholy power it can be reasonable for solo and pretty decent for duo which is primarilly what I did. My brother played a warrior at the time and we were on a brand new pvp server so there was a ton of ganking going on. Between the two of us we used to fend off full groups of people that were considerably higher in level. They'd go after me because nobody used soul link back then and they didnt realize that I was nigh invulnerable (I exploited the voidwalker sac and instant summon a hell of a lot too), and he'd mangle their casters while I feared and seduced people (back before they shared diminishing returns). It isn't really the best way to grind but back then you almost needed a pvp or hybrid spec to level because of all the world pvp. I guess most of the old world is probably uninhabited now so it isn't as much of an issue.

I did go from 60-70 as just about full destruction because I was playing with a mage and free mana wasn't a concern. Being able to one or two shot anything that isn't elite is pretty handy, and Shadowfury is one of the most underrated oh-shit buttons I've ever seen.

I guess my point is that you can level as any spec with a warlock, pick the one that'll best suit your surroundings and playstyle.

God Soul Link used to be fucking sweet.

if i were to level another warlock i would go affliction down to UA then dump the rest into demo, being able to fully dot up a mob and fear it then dot up another mob and then fear that one, drain soul the first one as it dies, keep going all day long

with the new soul link i have like 200 shadow damage on my 48 warlock

even with void out i just agony corruption lifetap lifetap drain drain dead

it takes like 15 seconds to kill even level mobs and i come out wiht full health and down like 200 mana

i didn't like fear juggling because i couldn't watch tv while this takes no concentration

the lock i have right now is 55 and it'll be the 3rd lock i'll be taking into the outlands in a couple more days

on this lock i've been demo since lvl 10 and have the felguard right now at 55

the first lock that i did 60-70 on hit the outlands when TBC was new and already had full tier 2 and other epics, so affliction was retardedly easy to level with already having that much +dmg. i stayed affliction all the way to 70 and never bothered trying the felguard because drain tanking and pulling entire camps was already too easy

the 2nd lock went into the outlands with very budget gear and trying to level as affliction without any +dmg or very little from the beginning quests was too much of a pain. i went felguard on this one pretty much all the way to 70 and also had WAY more fun in 5 mans as felguard

i'd say.. once you get decent +dmg, go affliction for ezmode leveling by pulling multiple mobs and entire camps and having no downtime

stay felguard until you get the +dmg for affliction or unless you REALLY enjoy it. personally i liked affliction better for questing and random pvp in the outlands, but liked felguard more in the 5 mans and when i had no +dmg

If you have a main with gold...affliction.

All you do is dot up the first mob using ua, then dot the second without ua and put your pet on it (succ), then dot up the last mob and howl of terror with all of them close. By this time the first mob is nearly dead. All you do is drain soul it and get back a billion mana, then do the same to the second and drain life/wand the last. Do this till 70.

So, you sell off the locks or something when they hit 70? Why make 3?
