Mojo616 02-24-2008, 10:17 PM Hey guys,
I've spent some time looking over other threads, but I was hoping to get some straightforward help here. Basically, my overall goal right now is to lose fat, what workout regimen should I follow? From what I've seen, I think HIIT seems to be the most preferred method, is that true? Any informative advice would be much appreciated, thanks.

Lose fat AND gain muscle.
TeckMan 02-25-2008, 01:54 AM problem with cardio is it usually only works your legs and then only in an extremely repetitive way (read: injury). also a beginner cannot do HIIT as they will become winded too quickly. you will puke if you attempt HIIT.
if you insist on focusing on cardio you need to have a rower and armbike otherwise you will only workout your lower body.
better to do resistance training like mistake is linking you to. keep your reps high and rest low and you'll have all the same benefits of HIIT, but you'll get a fully body workout and increase your strength and muscle size.
Fuzzy 02-25-2008, 08:16 AM to lose fat and become fit while doing it i'd go with p90x, don't expect to gain much muscle though

woodfucius 02-25-2008, 02:12 PM Fix your diet first. Exercise of any kind will help, but diet is more important if you're only concerned with dropping fat.
I always recommend the zone diet, which works very well. Here's a book that explains the basics and has a bunch of recipes:
Amazon.com: Mastering the Zone: The Next Step in Achieving SuperHealth and Permanent Fat Loss: Barry Sears,(none): Books (http://www.decenturl.com/amazon/zone-book)
For exercise, I recommend CrossFit (http://www.crossfit.com), but there are lots of alternatives in the sticky Useful Resources thread.
Rambro 02-27-2008, 07:39 AM I have that abs diet book and highly recommend it
The Bear 02-28-2008, 12:47 PM To have extreme fat lose you need your diet to be perfect for your body weight do cardio before your workout and do a circuit workout because you need to gain the muscle it burns fat and increases the metabolism and circuit workout never really gives you a rest so it is basically another cardio.

you don't have to buy a ton of shit. i started p90x recently and I bought a few bands to accompany the freeweights i have(i use the bands more because I don't have dumbbells) and I bought a pullup bar. if you're severly out of shape then its rough, I can't finish some of the excersizes yet (like ab ripper x) but i'm working on it.
you can easily download the p90x videos and guides, just google p90x torrents. that'll save you a decent sized investment right off the bat.

also what he said. i cleaned up my diet about a week before starting p90x and i felt a lot better after that. more energy + less sluggish. i couldn't imagine trying to do any serious workout regimen eating the kind of shit I was eating before.
I use FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal (http://www.fitday.com) to track what I eat, try to get in 5-6 meals a day, and I pretty much force myself to eat ever 2-3 hours. I haven't really felt hungry since starting the diet even tho I'm running a calorie deficit. I imagine that my new eating habits will help me immensly more than p90x will.
If you want the downloadable version of fitday its also readily available by searching for "fitday torrent" on google. I think its $30 from their site.
