[food] full before finished

I've basically split my daily food intake to 400~ cals @ 5 times per day (fit around my class schedule) but I'm having trouble finishing/eating enough at each sitting.

ie: oatmeal, I'll make 300~ cals worth and a glass of skim milk/pure fruit juice/protein shake (usually ~100 cals per drink) but seem to fill up before I can finish all the food.

Or even right now as I'm eating. I have about 8 oz of baked chicken, 3-4 oz steamed red potatoes and green beans.

Any tips/ideas? should I make smaller portions but with more calories? My goal is weight loss at the moment, so I can't just load up on whole milk, fruits, peanut butter, etc.

Edit: This was something I just thought of after I finished posting this: I'm not supposed to go below like 1500-1600 cals per day, but should I stop if I'm not hungry? I could easily just eat like 1500 and feel fine, but I'm currently forcing myself to finish most of it.

Eat till you're full, not till you cant eat anymore...

Well I'm not so much that I feel stuffed, I just end up forcing myself to finish the rest of the plate over 5-10 mins of reading TW or something.

you probably haven't been eating enough for a long time and your body adjusted. I would try and eat a little bit more every day until you have a proper appetite. There's no way any average sized or greater male should feel sated on 1500 calories.

When I was working in Disney (read: starving regularly on low salary) I barely ate at all. I lost 35 lbs and when I came home I couldn't eat for shit. In a month or so, things went back to normal.

Maybe so. I used to only eat twice a day (cereal for lunch, fast food/fat-ridden dinners = 3000~ cals or so). I guess a drastic change doesn't come easily.

This is very true. When I was at my lowest weight, I was easily feeling full on ~1500-1600 calories per day. When I started eating more to gain weight, I never felt hungry by the time my next meal rolled around. Now that I've been eating significantly more for several months, I find it easy to pack away my meals (without feeling stuffed) and am generally hungry every 3 hours.

Your stomach will shrink if you start starving yourself.
