I know there are a lot of other threads all about this same exact question and healthy diet in general, but, what are your favorite (and ideal) before/after workout meals and beverages. I've seen a lot of talk about different smoothies and shakes, what's your favorite brand of whey, etc?

Also, I've been looking to start a more strict 6 meal-a-day diet and was wondering if anyone else running a similar diet could offer any meal suggestions. I already do the cottage cheese and lean chicken/turkey, lots of veggies and fruits, spread my calories out throughout the day, but do you have any favorite recipes? Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, it's all good, share it.

Sorry for these beginner-fitness type questions, just trying to vary and spice up my bland diet. Thanks in advance.

Pasta. I get this multigrain pasta that is loaded up with Omega-3s and protein, it's a good carb boost before or after workouts.

I recommend making whole grain and beans into soups.

I like to make barley, lentil and various bean soups for something new. Very hearty and one batch goes for nearly a week.

I eat a lot of eggs ... with a lot of hot sauce.

My diet is pretty uninteresting, but I'm so fucking busy with work I don't have time to care.

It's called Barilla PLUS, around here it comes in a yellow box. It says you have to cook it a little longer than normal pasta (~11 minutes) but I've never compared.

i usually eat a sweet potatoe with cottage cheese and a whey shake before. then the standard PWO shake after. the meal after that is usually 2.5oz whole wheat pasta with 130g cottage cheese, 10g olive oil, 2oz lean ground beef, 2oz chicken, and alittle buffalo wing sauce, all mixed together. sounds weird but its damn good (to me atleast)

edit: i made this thread (http://www.tribalwar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=516078) awhile ago, it has some good meals in there

eggs and hotsauce, rayn?!

i usually eat some sort of pasta/whole grain & meat before and after a workout.

tonight i had a wheat rigatoni w/ a homemade tomato sauce, portabella mushrooms and chicken. just got back from the gym and fixing to go heat a turkey burger, make some toast and grab the bottle of hotsauce.

i just try to keep a ton of containers of varied pasta in tupperware so i can grab it, nuke it, and dine.

fried?

i just can't imagine boiled eggs w/ hotsauce, but then i can't stand cottage cheese unless a shitload of pineapple or another fruit is mixed into it

Worried at all about the cholesterol?Cholesterol in the diet does not affect serum cholesterol.

Boiled? No, scrambled without fat on high heat. Takes me 5 minutes to prepare half a dozen and throw it on whole grain toast. I believe that eggs are a nutritious whole food that we should not be afraid of.

if u scramble without the fat ur not getting the nutrients. err u probably mean without buttering the pan?

second the eggs, although I use salsa instead of hot sauce. Dice up some grilled chicken and throw it in as well on occasion, great meal

Back to pastas, any specific sauce (marinara, red sauce, whatever you call it) you guys prefer? Or is it all kinda the same 'healthy-wise' when it comes to pasta sauces?

Rayn, i have so much more respect for you knowing you love eggs. i fucking love eggs. put some shredded cheese in them and YUM

i have really gotten to be a fan of those egg substitutes. they say they are eggs, just w.o the shell. i look at the nutrition facts and they look legit. no mess, no egg beating, just pour straight onto pan. truly great for an egg lover like me. and i taste no difference either. can anyone verify that these are actually legit?

i like to make my own sauce most of the time.

roast some garlic & diced onions in a pan until onions are soft
add in a 14oz can of diced tomatoes and 1 half of a 14oz can (no salt added; del monte brand)
some basil and salt to preferred taste and let cook.

if you wanted you could had about 3/4 of a cup of water to the mixture, toss in your noodles, bring to a boil, cover, simmer for 20 minutes. then you've got it all ready and you can toss in whatever kind of meat you want as long as you heat it through.

I've done that in the past as well, something very similar, turned out fine, think I'll just do that again. Multigrain penne, some diced chicken breast, and some sauce to top it all off, sounds like good eats too me.

Scrambled eggs tho? I really enjoy mine with cheese like Rev_Night said. You guys all use some sort of egg substitute tho I'm assuming, right? I haven't tried any (substitute) and don't know how I'd like it. I've always eaten a regular old chicken egg and kinda just stayed away from them for the past 6 months - year while doing the healthier thing.

i like a cup of no fat plain yogurt and some of that kashi cereal with some type of berrys in it after a run, before a lift.

then another meal, usually eggs or half a chicken breast and a cup of brocolli before the lift.

then a protein shake afterwards
