So the guild is making "sweeping changes" to the way raids are handled, and have replaced all their officers. They want me to come back (and bring the 8 ex-members I have with me, presumably).

I'd love to go, because they are my friends, but I can imagine how I'll be treated by some of the less forgiving members already.

First of all that type of thing have been going on for years and across games. I've dealt with it numerous time with EQ2. The problem is if you want to join a raiding guild, start one or join one that is already. Most people don't have the time to put into having to show up to raid 3 or 4 times a week.

When I decided to join a hardcore raiding guild we knew what we were in for. I remember getting called at 4AM to kill a contested mob when we first started. That shit isn't for everybody.

That said, I in many ways agree with Rat. I say my main motivation for raiding is to see and kill mobs I never have before. However when you're doing the same instances day after day you're going to get bored and unless you're going to get the sweet gear out of doing it, what's the point?

Yeah you have friends but we're all still playing to chase the rush of something new. Be it gear or just a new experience.

Another thing I've learned from raiding is that lots of people come and go and while you may not have the best relationships with other guildies, it's just like work and you work together to get the job done.

But yeah xpdnc most people who play these games go through the exact same thing.

This type of thing happens all the time in every MMO that I have played, you see top raiding guilds break apart and pull people from other top raiding guilds to form the new guild everyone wants to be in. Usually they come up with a name to show they are starting new or were unhappy with their old guild, top new guild name choice for this situation "Phoenix" with other choices like the Forgotten, Exiled, or some crap like that.

Guild fills up fast usually only taking a couple of days to have well geared experienced with numbers for raiding, usually they run into the typical problem of too many people trying to lead because they have 10 people that were officers in their previous guild all wanting to be heard, after awhile the same thing happens and everyone jumps ship to forum the new guild, "Phoenix Rising" or "The forsaken" or some crap like that.

It's probably going to be more of the same unless they kick out all of the deadweight. That's the only "sweeping changes" I can imagine.
