 and people still will claim they aren't trying to compete with warhammer. They'll steal the casual market by pre-painting everything!

If only WHO was set in the 40k universe. I'd kill someone if it means I get to be a Space Marine.

Yeah I heard about this a little while ago from a guildmate that works at Upper Deck haha.

I'd probably buy some of them to sit on my desk (if you can get them singly) because I'm a nerd like that.

oh they do look cool. for someone who sucks at painting such as myself I love the pre-painted idea. I wish Games Workshop would have done the same back when I was in to table top gaming. We played sooo much WH40k back in middle school. It was nice being friends with a rich kid.

I want one of the 3d sculpted characters. I sign up for the drawing every month but i've yet to be chosen :(

My warlock looks so badass i want to put it on my desk at work so everyone in the office can know i'm a faggot.

It sounds like this will be much smaller scale than most Warhammer table top battles are.

ou can play a single character or take control of an entire party of brave adventurers, giving you an endless assortment of gameplay possibilities!

It still baffles me as to why they didn't do this instead of trying to make another fantasy MMO.

They said the factions are too splintered. I think they could have made it work.

Imperium Factions:
Imperial Guard
Space Marines
Witch Hunters/Daemonhunters

vs.

Chaos lead factions:
Chaos
Orcs
Dark Eldar

The imperial factions are trying to stop a black crusade. Chaos is manipulating Orcs and Dark Eldar to do its bidding. This is an easy enough justification for setting up a pvp conflict. They could even explore a Tau/Eldar alliance for a 3rd faction that’s working together to stop Chaos but won’t ally with humans because everyone hates one another. Eldar would be a strong enough pull to lure enough players even without a 3rd race (or just have kroot be the 3rd race even though they are part of the Tau). In PvE you can explore the more complex relationships all the different races have with each other. Necrons and Tyranids would be interesting enemies to fight and GW could even explore some sort of ancient link between the two if they want to integrate them in as playable races as well.

Running around as a space marine for 40 levels sounds depressing. I want the bike at level 1.

This in no way indicates WoW is trying to compete with Warhammer.

I like to think of it as unyielding consistency.

If I bought any of those I would buy Leeroy. And yeah they say in the initial posting Leeroy will be in there.

It still baffles me as to why they didn't do this instead of trying to make another fantasy MMO.

My theory is that they already know this. They assume (and rightfully so) Blizzard's next planned MMO will be sci-fi based (Starcraft). Given they it's easy to see how fanatical Starcraft people are, especially if all goes as planned and they release the MMO months on the coat-tails of SC2.

Given that, it seemed simple that in order to compete in the MMO market they'd not only have to try the old and "safe" fantasy genre but also would have to tweak the gameplay to do everything WoW doesn't. Because Blizzard has WoW, 2 expansions by the time SC2 comes out, and even more fanatical fans. They'd beat out competition with sheer lotal numbers, so any competitors with Blizzard will simply have to trump them by doing what they couldn't do well even better.
