I have normally ran (20-30min) before, during, and after workouts. No set schedule, just ran whenever i wanted to. I hear contrasting views when running is better. What does TW think?

Familiar 02-06-2008, 10:37 AM a 10 min warmup before is good after i would do your long run i usually just walk at the highest incline for 10 mins pre workout to get body ready to do things Lord Elessar 02-06-2008, 10:38 AM I do: warmup stretch run lift cooldown in that order. Bomba 02-06-2008, 11:07 AM i prefer 5min warm up stretch lift cardio stretch Rev_Night 02-06-2008, 11:13 AM so i take it that its a matter of preference then. Usually with my no xplode, energy is not a problem. I just wanted to make sure that, lack of energy aside, there are no performance issues. Rayn 02-06-2008, 12:05 PM I think the only thing you want to look out for is doing so much cardio before lifting that it impedes your ability to get a good workout. Other than that, I don't think order will have a large impact. GingerBreadMan 02-07-2008, 05:44 PM Run before lifting. That's how the track all stars do it too. edit: make sure you do cool down and stuff still though DropSquad 02-07-2008, 06:43 PM I think the only thing you want to look out for is doing so much cardio before lifting that it impedes your ability to get a good workout. Most places i've read basically mention that a long run before hand makes it a bit hard to be ROORING to go lift some weights afterwards. So keep the jog light before hand get that blood flowing, then do your lifting. Then if your going to do a long run do it after you lift. GingerBreadMan 02-07-2008, 10:03 PM Pussies. Raven 02-07-2008, 10:16 PM if your lifting and running in same session, run after it is better to run in the morning before breakfast, eat, maybe eat lunch, and then lift. that way you can maximize your potential in the gym blazindave 02-08-2008, 05:22 AM After. dweeb 02-08-2008, 08:54 AM I've always heard 'after' is the best. I always run after. blazindave 02-08-2008, 06:17 PM When you lift weight you want to be at your freshest because the idea is to do as much muscle tear as possible. If you're too exhausted then you wont lift as much, and everything will be wasted. Since lifting is anaerobic, it requires "more energy" in a given moment than jogging. As such, jogging is low effort compared to lifting, and should be done at the end. I always fine endurance stuff more tiring than lifting heavy weights. opsayo 02-16-2008, 07:33 PM after you lift your body is scrounging for calories why the fuck would you spend time running instead of consuming food Raven 02-16-2008, 10:04 PM after you lift your body is scrounging for calories why the fuck would you spend time running instead of consuming food some people want to lose weight, some want to put it on JohnJacobJingleheimerSchmidt 02-17-2008, 12:22 AM after sheeptaur 02-17-2008, 03:07 AM ^haha awesome name. Raven 02-17-2008, 01:53 PM aww banned Redz15 02-17-2008, 08:16 PM when i run its a workout all on its own. i run in the mornings and lift at night. i dont like to lift and run in the same session. i feel like i dont get a good run in or a good workout in. WinterFreshX 02-19-2008, 10:20 AM The best thing to do is to have separate your lifting and running. Do one in the morning and the other in the afternoon/evening. Not only does this the most for your body, it also makes it easier to do the workouts. Who wants to spend 2 hours in the gym working out in a single session? | ||
