Can someone please explain to me how to use slam to maximize my damage? i am not sure exactly when to use it.

in between autoattacks

is there any special rotation? like a hunter shot rotation?

Get a swing timer, spec 33/28 something like this:

Various points can be re-allocated, but the crux of the build is blood frenzy, flurry, weap mastery (for the change in dodge, etc.), and flurry.

Your attack rotation is limited by the GCD. You will hit with white, and the second that swing timer finishes, hit slam. When that slam goes off you hit MS. As the next swing goes off you'll slam, and then WW.

Your rotation should roughly go White -> Slam -> MS -> White -> Slam -> WW.

Do not use HS unless you're > 80 rage and can handle the extra threat. Trying to fit in extra attacks/slams outside of this rotation will do nothing but clip your shit and lower your DPS. Shouts, etc. you will have to fit into MS/WW slots when they're on CD or need refreshing.

Beyond your own personal playing, to make arms DPS really work you need windfury. An enh. shaman in the group is best, but a healy shaman dropping the totem works as well. Feral druids are a nice boost also.

We use MS/BF war, rogue, rogue, enh. shaman, feral druid. If the feral or one of the rogues is gone we throw in a ret. pally. This group will put out a lot of damage.

I'm an arms dps warrior (in training). A lot of it depends on your gear and spec. The 33/28 seems pretty popular. I'm currently 33/25/3 but when I respec next I'll probably be going to 33/28 with swords instead of mace (bye bye thunder).

The timing of the cycle does take some work to be effective. If you're too late or fuck up your slam you lose a lot of dps.

As kitten said though an enhancement shaman turns you into a monster, but you can still do pretty well even without.

Its a nice role to play since you're viable in both pvp and pve.

A trick that always worked well for me is to hold the slam button down, then release when you see your character start to swing for the white swing. The timing has to be optimal or you'll lose dps quickly.

This will save you a very tiny amount of time, and it works, but you have to be largely stationary for it to be most effective (the button-holding method, that is). Because I have to move a lot I'll just hit my key for slam when the bar is almost finished instead of after I see it complete to deal with the lag and button press.

I've been doing this for long enough now that I don't need my swing timer anymore and can run my rotation in my head. It takes a little while to get perfect, but just work at it and you'll get it down.

thanks for the info guys. A friend had linked me that video back when my warrior was level 10 but i remembered nothing about it. Now just to grind out these last 2 levels :-\

I'm far too lazy to respec or bother buying another 2h from arena, and my rage gen with a mace/mace spec is fine to support my rotation. The only time I can foresee problems with rage are when you have shit for crit.

Just regular buffs (no food/flasks) I'm ~2.8-3k AP (much higher spikes obviously, with flask, enh. shaman, etc.), 39-40% crit in a lot of PvP gear when I PvE as 33/28... you should be able to maintain a slam rotation at the very least.
