Fastest 1 hander is always important with prot play leveling, if you get Seal of Command later on pickup the slowest 2 hander, I had seal of command in my build until I was tanking heroics and kara. It is great for soloing and if you have reckoning 5/5 and seal of command it makes for some decent damage and you can have a full tanking build with SoC tossed in around level 52.

Currently leveling a Protection Paladin level 58 right now. I run with a weekly 5 man group. We have a Holy Paladin, Enhance Shaman, Fire Mage, Shadow Priest. We pretty much go through instances in a breeze. We do not use CC because of the AOE holy damage I do and it makes everything pretty easy. We've run every instances up to 58 at least 3 to 5 times. Most of my leveling has been done in instances. I do grind and as Prot. It's quite fun.

Deadlyrabbit is one of the most badass tanks I have ever witnessed, listen to his advice. Grouping/raiding with him has spoiled me to the point where I don't even really want to go unless he is tanking.

pre 60 shit is so easy now, we pretty much 4 manned everything through hellfire without really speccing for it.

The funny thing is I kept telling my buddies that this seems really easy since the last time I leveled a character up. That was pre-BC on a warrior and things seemed a bit harder then.

haha thanks, but I also spent 6 months playing a prot paly before I even rolled on Tichon to play with people from TW. My first week playing prot was like any holy paly that thinks a respec makes them a tank, it was really fucking bad, I had somebody say "I am leaving so you guys can get a real tank." I spent as much time reading how to tank as actually doing it that first week, trial by fire pretty much, I was 70 and started out by offering to tank Ramps and BF for teams and then worked my way up through all the outlands instances to get practice.
At this point my gear makes tanking heroics look easy, usually get a few suprised comments when I aoe tank heroic SH.
Armory link might work.

Prot AoE grinding is decent, I did more DPS as Ret but you trade off DPS for being able to fight/kill 4 - 6 mobs your level at once and still make it out of there with more than 50% mana and health. Finding a fast 1H can be tricky, as when most people think fast 1H they think dagger and pallies can't use daggers.
I tried tanking as Prot both around 40 and at 60+ and I found it's a lot easier to hold aggro 60+. I attribute this largely to the fact there's a lot more +int and +spellpower plate once you his Outlands and that adds into the holy damage you already deal. And more holy damage = more threat, but you have the usual tanking issues like people attacking mobs other than the one you are or the rogue who thinks they can solo an elite, etc.
And if you're doing PvP it's a bit of a pain though. On the one side nearly everyone leaves you alone because once they see you are AoE grinding they usually figure you'll simply not be worth trying to gank. But on the same token you become keenly aware of how many shadowpriests are around. Mainly because not only can you not really do anything to do but they know this as well. The only strat I employ when attacked by a shadowpriest is to stun him, run, and spam self-Cleanse and generally make him work as much as possible for the kill.
blah blah blah Feannag post....I have nothing to contribute to this thread besides stating that DR is an awesome tank.
