Detox.enD 12-31-2007, 11:23 AM Ours does not... and I think its stupid. Basically I've got 10 hours of sick leave thats gone tonight at midnight. I think it is a dumb policy because you encourage your employees to call in sick... And it really bothers me because I don't ever call in sick, even when I am sick. the only time I called in sick this year was because I didn't want to make my co-workers sick, and I actually worked half a day from home.
which brings me to another point, if you're sick enough to make other people at work sick, stay the **** home.
Infinite 12-31-2007, 11:23 AM no but my dog does
baaahhbum
Detox.enD 12-31-2007, 11:24 AM funny guy!

coombz 12-31-2007, 11:25 AM can't believe you're crying over 10 ****ing HOURS...
10 days i could understand
anyway i can carry 5 unused days of paid holiday over to the next year
Killjoy 12-31-2007, 11:26 AM in general sick/personal days will not roll over. Why would they? GGs being well
and yes if you are sick..****ing stay home. I am "sick" of people coming in with the plague and then using their sick days for "hangover recovery" after a holiday weekend.
Baloo 12-31-2007, 11:26 AM My sick leave rolls over after it ****s your mom
vawlk 12-31-2007, 11:27 AM yes, forever.
I get 13 days a year. If I have over 150 days I can take a whole paid year off or Take 2 paid years off if it is the 2 previous to my retirement.

I'm not complaining about 10 hours.
I'm complaining about the policy.
Not sure why I included the fact that I have 10 hours, i guess thats why it comes off as me complaining about 10 hours. But its not the case.
Automatic Jack 12-31-2007, 11:30 AM 10 hours? I have thirty hours already. We have a cap of 225, it rolls over. Nice to be in a union.
You should take more sick time, especially when you are sick.

my dad did something similair. However he elected to work the 2 years and get his sick leave in the form of a check, so he is basically making double what he used to (plus the overtime) for his last 18 months before he retired.
He also got a lump sum for working the two years.
He has a ****ing sweet setup.

I didn't start working until late in the year, so thats why I have so few hours.
The point isn't the hours.
The point is if you give employees sick leave, why would you get rid of it at the end of the year. You're basically saying- here, take x many hours off this year for no reason. Because honestly, I doubt most of those hours used are for being too sick to work.
Falhawk 12-31-2007, 11:33 AM I don't explicitely get "sick leave"
if I'm sick and can't work I stay home

Ixiterra 12-31-2007, 11:42 AM I was really sick last week with the flu, but it's real hard to just take a day off at my job, so I showed up for most of the day Wednesday, left 4 hours early Thursday, and called in sick Friday. Meanwhile, I was washing my hands every 5 minutes at work and doing the best job possible to avoid getting germs near anybody else (lysol everywhere). Two other people called in sick on Friday and they're both pissed at me saying I caused it. Except they had the stomach flu I had the respiratory flu, and the guy I eat lunch with and sit next to everyday is fine. :hrm:
