so i have been playing since i have made that http://www.tribalwar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=517326 (thread), about half an hour each day. I wanted to make up a song for my sister for xmas (LOL GAY RAINBOW HEART)

so be prepared to laugh and critique hard. (recorded in ghetto home studios TM, consisting of a headset mic stuck inside the hole of the guitar!)

ok the high E, 2nd fret, then B seond fret, then an open strum (i dont think i added that in the recording)

i think it hides the chord change a little better for me anyway

then second fret G and fourth fret D, then the same but with 3rd fret B

I dont even know the official names of these chords.

also any tips on singing + playing at the same time would be appreciated. for me its like rubbing your tummy, patting your head, rolling your tonge and spinning on one foot all at the same time.

ok not really but its hard for me

Incoming Alek to tell you there is no such thing as an original chord progression.

You know a good guitar player from the fact that there is no rest between his notes, it all flows without breaks.

Work on that, work on your rythm (if i'm telling you, you know it's bad).
You also either hit wrong notes, or are out of tune.

Practice makes perfect, keep at it.

First thing you need to do is not listen to Dave, he knows nothin about which he speaks. Work on control of your picking hand because you are hitting some open strings that do not work in the chords you are fingering. Next count...1 2 3 4 as you play over and over, or better yet, go out and buy a 19$ beeping metronome and play with the beat it provides. Keep it steady and work on staying in time. Other than that, it is pretty damn good for as short a time as you have been playing. Keep at it, and if you have any questions, ask here and one of us guitarists will do our best to help you out.

PS. Don't listen to dave, he is a retarded cocksucker.

i knew i downloaded fruity loops for something ; 150 dollar software replaces the 19 dollar metronome :D

yea, i still have bad control on which strings i pluck, and my rhythm is pretty inconsistent, but it is getting better.

thanks for the advice.

As for singing and playing guitar. The best way to do it is to learn to do both from the beginning which is really good for you since you're just starting. For me I concentrate on singing and just using my instincts for guitar. If you've practiced the progression until its like the back of your hand, then its much easier.

ive been getting it slowly, the counting of 1 2 3 4 helps, and assfrags' method is working too.

i still have to concentrate really hard htough, and when i relax a little it all goes to shit.

thanks for the advice fellows

The way I learned to sing and play guitar at the same time was to take a song I knew really well that was extremely easy to play, and then strum one chord, sing the corresponding line.. strum the next chord, sing the next line. It makes you emphasize the vocals a bit more and if you keep doing that over and over you will begin to remember where the first strum of the chord goes and then you can start strumming a couple more times and so on and so forth until you can strum to the beat correctly and sing at the same time..

Worked for me atleast..
