no woman no cry cover

hey

I wasn't sure if this deserved its own thread, I know on other guitar forums people would be upset and consider this spam. but I figured there's not all that much posting that happens here so it's not too big a deal.

Anyway I wanted to share a cover I've been working on for awhile. The idea was first brought to me by john mayer, who I traced to the original cover (oxymoron?) done by charlie hunter (look him up, do it now)

anyway I had fun with it and learning it really taught me a lot of valuable picking techniques, hope you like it

lol @ chick dropping her papers at the start. Not sure if you're looking for feedback, but I'll give you mine anyways... You have a decent sense of rhythm, but no sense of time. I felt uncomfortable watching you flub through a couple parts and I think that, even for a morning show or whatever, you should have been more prepared. Singing also would have been a huge bonus. Props for doing it though, some parts were pretty good and you definitely know how to play.

lol

morning show for a college inhouse tv station that 10 of us run and no one watches (tv broadcasting dept)

nice camera directing though

but no sense of timing? hm, it definitely wasn't perfect and I know one part in particular the timing was off but I didn't know that it was that bad. but yeah thanks for the comment nonetheless

edited to add: timing has always been my weakness though it's true, definitely going to put more time into working on it. im funny

Here's some feedback for you.

1. Nice performance. You have talent and it shines through.

2. Try practicing in the dark. You stare at your fretboard a whole lot. A truly connected player doesn't need to look at the fretboard.

3. I don't care if "no one watches" the TV show. You put it on YouTube in front of millions of people, a portion of whom watched it - 61 at last count - so dress appropriately, and put on your best face. EVERY time you are recorded, regardless of how many people are there at the time.

4. When you go for your percussives, they're a bit loud. It may be the mix, but you could have been hitting just a tad lighter.

I didn't mean to sound too harsh with my comment. I know it's just a free jam, but try tapping your foot to the beat, there's no groove. It's got no flow and is therefore hard for the listener to follow. Try playing with a metronome/click or drum track when you practice.

To support this with evidence. That dumb bitch behind you attempts to tap her fingers with the beat. She is unable to.

if you're going to be a total dick post your own shit or fuck off. that's all there is to it. otherwise people (such as myself) wont give a fuck about what it is you have to say.

it was a very casual performance so I don't mind dressing it. I also don't mind the taps. my guitar wasn't even properly mic'd anyway. I agree I don't even need to look at the guitar (i've played this song in the dark before believe it or not), I suppose it was just nervousness that made me look at my fingers. thanks for the comments. cheers.

It sounds like you've got a bag of excuses.

Actually I have no excuses, the entire point of this thread was to get feedback, which I got. I fully admit my weaknesses on the guitar.

I'm merely pointing out that you're a fucking asshole that has nothing to back yourself up with, everyone here sees it, and you need to acknowledge that.

Not bad fs, some interesting change ups. Some of it worked great, some of it sounded a tad awkward, but you played without percussion. Be easier (for someone like me) to tell what's going on with sticks

Keep at it

I think assfrags is funny. He can be incredibly blunt at times, but you shouldn't take him too seriously.
