JustinCase 11-26-2007, 12:53 PM So my guild is stuck on Kael even after the nerf and while I let them argue about who's fault it is we suck, I've been working on a druid. I got to lvl 40 in like a week of casual playing with the 2.3 xp changes. So far I really like it, a lot different than a mage. Any tips on what to expect end game wise in both pvp and pve? Obviously I'm leveling as feral but have considered resto as an end game spec, not really interested in a boomkin since I have a mage.
How viable are druids as melee dps in 25 mans? We only have two druids and both are tanks, they don't really use cat form to dps.
One last question, what is more important, strength or agility?
So who else here has a druid and what do you think of the class in general?
NeverSummer 11-26-2007, 02:28 PM My druid is about to hit 61. I am leveling feral and will be a pvp heal spec at 70. (8/11/42) I can't comment on feral dps, but I know resto is downright op in pve and pvp. I can't wait for swiftmend/cyclone/lifebloom.
PessimiStick 11-26-2007, 02:36 PM You won't get a spot in a serious guild as full-time DPS.
You take Ferals because they are great offtanks and do very respectable DPS when they aren't tanking (unlike a second prot warr).
Resto druids are pretty much amazing 2v2 and 3v3. They are also amazing (tree) for raid healing. You can keep a lifebloom stack rolling with +heal values boosted by activate trinkets like Essence of the Martyr - Items - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29376) and the lifebloom stack, so long as it's kept from expiring, will continue to tick at the trinketed rate even when the on use effect has expired. I think you can keep 2 full stacks active without dropping them, but I don't play a druid myself so I'm not sure.
Druid is a power class atm.
feral druids are for tanking in endgame. they can no longer beat prot warriors when both classes are dpsing.
you wont get/deserve a raid spot in 25 mans as resto if you are shitty like the overwhelming majority of resto druids. ideally you would want 3 paladins and 4-5 shaman in your raid to provide buffs. resto druids dont give any buffs and they have to compete with holy priests (who are extremely mean now) for that last healing spot or two.
1 agil = .5 str = 1 AP. AP is king for feral.

you can keep as many stacks as you can active with this... i just hit 70 and started gearing my resto druid for arena... but im successfully healing heroics with only 815 +healing.

The rolling blooms are being fixed... was able to get LB rolling at +1000 a tick by trinketing + amp. magic on tank before the fight, tank clicks off buff before combat, etc.
Used to be able to keep 4 stacks up on a good night w/ no lag (though that leaves no spare GCD for rejuv, etc.), but with the stupid GCD changes (ie: eliminating spam clicking.. fuckers) 3 is pretty much the max, but that also includes plenty of spare time for rejuv/SM, etc.

druids dont give any bufs? lol
slick spic 11-27-2007, 01:18 PM with the way they changed HotW, agi is actually better for druids usually. HotW used to give 20% more str in cat form, so the more str you had the better. Now it gives 10% more AP in cat form. getting agi also gives you the crit, on top of the bonus AP. i don't read any of the math bullshit, but ppl worked out that the increase in dps from crits is better than the small AP lost from having agi instead of str. most of my gear stacks agi, and i'm still topping 3100-3200 AP self buffed
as far as pvp goes, feral is really shitty unless you're just doing random bg's where ppl are stupid. i often top the killing charts in bg's cause i just run around and rape ppl who don't get any kind of heals and don't know how to play, but i wouldn't really be any use in arena. resto is the way to go in arena
HaPpY 11-27-2007, 02:07 PM 3200 ap? no wonder that fuckin feral raped my resto ass in a few seconds.... then again im 6k hp no resil some cloth :D
TseTse 11-27-2007, 02:12 PM 3im 6k hp no resil some cloth :D
stop twinking and do real pvp :D

I think he means beyond your feral offtank.

this my 2nd 70 arena toon after mage... i just hit 70 though hence the shit gear. BUT 35mins left with 75k honor, epic bop gems, and enchant mats ready :)
besides i rip on twinks in the bg9 forums now :D

ya no buffs
lifebloom got nerfed today thanks to the idiots who love to run their mouth but have never seen a 1k lb, dont know how to get a 1k lb, and will never in their life have enough gear to get a 1k lb. granted any decent resto druid should have known that lb would get nerfed (and will be nerfed further) but its pretty lame that this nerf will only affect the tiny percentage of druids who know enough about the game to keep their mouth shut.

You're confused.
Him: resto druids don't bring buffs
You: lol
Me: he meant they don't bring buffs beyond what your feral offtank brings
You: [above list of things a feral offtank can provide, except innervate under aggro]
A resto druid brings an innervate and a slightly improved Gotw to a raid that already has a feral. That's better than a 2nd priest, but not a first priest and maybe not a 3rd or 4th pally or shaman.
Personally, I think HoTs rock and that a raid should include a tree, but I'm just trying to explain what they're saying since you don't seem to get it.

i just hate when people speak in absolutes... although i dont have enough 25man resto or feral druid experience (i do as mage but thats different) to argue how valuable they are in raids since i pvp 95% of the time :p:
oh and i forgot to mention the resto druid party buff
