DwarfVader 11-18-2007, 07:34 PM Nice DP.
I enjoy the crits, esp. when I'm on a roll and see them more and more frequently. When you get on a roll, and you get more of them, it helps you keep your roll going.
Yeah they suck when you are headed to the action and get nailed by a random fucking crit rocket, but fuck it sucks when you're headed to the action and get randomly knifed in the back too.
John the Jammer 11-18-2007, 09:40 PM how will they nerf uber's?
Evil Light Bulb 11-18-2007, 10:38 PM GFW Radio aka 97.5 the Brodeo is pretty good.
how will they nerf uber's?
Make them even shorter?
hellsfury, youre an idiot.
nerfing ubers is simple.
drop uber down to 75% invuln for the medic and 50% for the guy hes ubering.
MonkeyHero 11-19-2007, 12:36 AM But then it's not as uber so you can't really call it uber.
DwarfVader 11-19-2007, 05:09 AM And I honestly don't understand people's fucking problem with uber either.
When they uber, GET THE FUCK OUT OF THERE... They can't cap while uber, they can't do anything but shoot till the uber is gone.
Electricity 11-19-2007, 06:45 AM I think the game is pretty balanced the way it is right now just need more maps
BloodyShark 11-19-2007, 09:41 AM i dont have problems with uber either. Just use a demo man bomb to knock the medic or the other player the fuck out. or up. whatever. that shit slows them down/confuses them.

how are ubers detrimental to comp?
i dont see the logic there.
Vifoxe 11-19-2007, 03:45 PM how to nerf the uber: Kill the medic.

Yep, it's pretty much the way every single uber rush on dustbowl gets stopped right at the beginning of the third stage.
Felonius 11-19-2007, 05:34 PM That's kind of the problem... Competition becomes a game of "Kill the Medic." The medic takes on too important a role in my opinion. He becomes worth considerably more than the other five players in a 6v6. The goal is to kill their medic repeatedly, and even use your own uber in order to kill their medic before they are fully charged. It's not that uber is difficult to defeat -- it isn't at all. It just makes your own and the enemy medic a little too important. The crits make the issue a little worse, since your or the enemy's medic can be easily one-shotted. And because the medic makes up say, 40% of your effectiveness (rather than 1/6 or 16.667%), one crit just brought the enemy team down to 60% effectiveness. Then consider this on granary, where a win in the initial battle generally means a win on the entire map, and you might start to understand the problem a bit better. This game is symmetrical in that killing their medic is just as "balanced" as your medic being killed, but whether it's fun or good for competition is an entirely different story.
You guys will stop enjoying pubs so much six months from now... And then you won't be so quick to write off the problems in competitive play. All this said, I still think competition is a blast -- But it could still be a lot better. Having it limited to 6v6 is a big part of the problem. Blame "pro gamerz who need to be able to go to LANz" for that one.

kill the medic is not because of ubers
you may want to kill the medic even more when he is close to charging ubers
but even if they nerf or remove ubers, medic is still gonna be 40% of your effectiveness. reducing uber effectiveness or removing them would force a map redesign too. being able to even get out of the gates on some maps would be damn near impossible without uber.
i havent played high end comp or anything, but from what i've seen if they needed to nerf something to help comp (other than removing crits) itd be to nerf the medic heal effectiveness. either remove/reduce that 150% bonus max health or reduce the heal rate.
I personally think its OK as is.
And i agree, comp should be more than 6v6. i havent played comp with 8v8 so i dont know how the feel is, but its gotta be better than 6v6
Yeah, I've always thought 6 v 6 was pretty gay. I've also thought class limits are pretty gay as well, but they are needed otherwise it would be nothing but scout battles. You should def be able to use more then one medic though.
Felonius 11-19-2007, 09:13 PM The ubers aren't themselves so bad, but yeah something should be done to make the medic more of a choice rather than a requirement. I agree about slowing down the rate of healing. Then it wouldn't always be necessary to go for the medic first in every scenario. More options/diversity make for a better game. If crits were removed, however, everything else would need to be rebalanced... Which is why I doubt it will ever happen. Crits are sort of the solution to a medic's high rate of healing.

well i already think you're a douche so we'll just add that to the list.
you think if there were no ubers you wouldnt still go after medic first?
im not saying ubers arent what the game is centered around - you push on uber, etc. but even if ubers werent there you'd be going after the medic first because he keeps a push alive.
if you think you are only killing a medic because of his uber then you are the clueless one :)

medics would be FAR FAR FAR FAR LESS targeted than they are now. Hell guys on defense PURPOSELY push the attacking team when they have uber, just to negate theirs. Of course im a douche, because you dont like my opinion. Guess what? I could careless...
HypnosisFX 11-20-2007, 05:15 AM Leave the game as is, nothing wrong with the crit system or uber or anything else. Can't belive the amount of thought you peeps are wasting into this. oh well you are a #1 rank team and you lost the #1 spot cause a heavy came in and raped you......come on guys you see that heavy turn uber get the fuck out until he is finished. i was playing yesterday and i killed 4 heavys that went uber cause i stayed back for a little bit and when it was over i back raged them.
