Can anyone explain spell haste?

Seems there's a lot of it in the new items.

You cast faster, though it's (kind of)worthless on spells 1.5 seconds or faster because of the global cooldown.

Unless it's been recently changed, every ~15.5 spell haste rating is equal to about 1% decreased casting time, or (over an extended period of time) about 1% more damage overall. In practical terms you need about 60 spell haste to shave a tenth of a second off a standard 2.5 second nuke. I can't see it being particularly useful in PVP unless you stack it in numbers that aren't currently available, but for raiding once you have your hit capped at 16% it's often the biggest increase in overall DPS to stack it next (without obviously sacrificing tons of damage and crit stupidly).

Short answer I guess is: It's just another stat, everything in moderation and you'll done fine.

not really... you just cant spam the same 1.5- speed faster than every 1.5sec. it's only pointless for flash heal spamming holy palis.

Haste is actually excellent for arcane mages at high end.

ya haste buffs channels too... really wish it buffed over time stuff, not necessarily for locks but for resto druids... i mean whats the point of having crafted leather healing gear with haste :shrug:
