Looking for a little insight on guitars, which I know pretty much nothing about.
I've always wanted to learn how to play and I'm starting to look around at Guitar Center and see what they've got. I haven't decided whether I want to start on an electric or an acoustic, if anyone has any advice on which is better to start with let me know. I'm looking at <$200 for the guitar, and if you recommend electric and know of a good, cheap, small amp I'd be glad to hear about it

A couple of electrics I was looking at online:

I found this one online that seems to be the best for the cheapest price available, but I'm not too confident in going for the cheapest Dean-Vendetta-XM-Electric-Guitar (http://www.guitarcenter.com/Dean-Vendetta-XM-Electric-Guitar-103933354-i1147572.gc)

I'm leaning towards this one though, found it for 40% off Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Special II Electric Guitar with Zebra Pickups and more Solid Body Electric Guitars at GuitarCenter.com. (http://www.guitarcenter.com/Epiphone-Limited-Edition-Les-Paul-Special-II-Electric-Guitar-with-Zebra-Pickups-512582-i1176223.gc)

I live in downtown Atl and am going to go check out the pawn shops and see what they have, anyone have any experience with the quality of them or am I better off buying a new guitar instead of a used one?

Make sure you get a guitar that makes you look badass.

Either one of those is fine. An acoustic would encourage you to play more, though, since you can just pick it up and strum away.

The important thing is to play the thing, not worry about the gear.

Make sure to get a tuner, plenty of picks, and an extra set of strings.

Electric guitar is easier to learn on. Start with a steel stringed acoustic though to help you build strength and calluses.
As for which one to buy, sub 500 bucks they re all more or less the same, i advise you to save up and buy a good guitar.
A good guitar affects the feel and how well you can play.
