Patch 2.3 offers a pretty amazing new feature: Guild banks.

Guild banks are available in most capital cities (including Scryers and Aldor banks). Each tab can contain 98 items and you can purchase up to 6 of them. Each tab gets custom name/symbol. Each tab can be assigned various privileges by the guild leader based on guild rank. You can control who sees a slot, how much can be transfered per day and

1st tab : 1 gold
2nd tab : 10 gold
3rd tab : 100 gold
4th tab : 1 000 gold
5th tab : 5 000 gold
6th tab : 10 000 gold

**** these prices were updated to start at 100g

Notice, that for just 111g you can get 288 slots. Finally, the guild bank can hold gold itself and be used for repairs. :boogie:

SO?

My first interest was to figure out how to get myself a PERSONAL guild bank, using alts. Over the past 2 days, i've setup a new guild on an alt... and spamming people for sigs (a lot harder than it used to be). So, i now have a guild setup and just need a buddy to help me get all my alts into it.

I'd strongly suggest setting up a guild for yourself, asap, before people start doing this in mass as they realize what's possible. It's going to get real hard to get signatures. FFS on the day 2.3 releases, i bet you could CHARGE for signatures.

This isnt a big deal for everybody, but i'm somebody who has every char slot filled on his main server... and uses the banks for every char. I could use more space.

It has little to do with playing a lot. It has to do with sending shit to alt banks instead of vendoring. :D

For the record... i dont raid. 99% of my wow time is spent semi-afk in av. 1% is playing arenas.

Yea, I'm sure everyone's going to be doing this with their alts... What do I have to do again? Leave my current guild on all my alts? You know, they're in a guild for a reason.

Maybe you're different and play differently than most people but I can almost guarantee you that people won't "exploit" the gbanks... at least not in that way. What a waste of time... I seriously thought this was about an actual exploit. Meh

GeneralHell it's actually a really good idea. There are tonnes of people who play who are completely rammed with items that this would be a good idea for. Maybe next time instead of spending the time to reply to something you don't care about, click http://www.tribalwar.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=240 instead.

And for the record, you can keep whatever random alts you have in your ULTRALAZERTASKFORCEOFAZER OTH guild and simply make a new char and have him be your AH guy and gbank storage. But it clearly appears that thinking one step ahead isn't exactly your strong suit :D

As i said up front, this isnt a big deal for everybody.

But those who do a lot of farming and trading will have reason to do this.

Who said you have to leave your guild on ALL your alts? You only need 1 alt with their own guild to have access. Personally, i'm going to have several alts in that guild to share access to the bank... but you dont need to. I just happen to have ALL char slots filled and most of their banks filled already. I have an alt for AH sales, one for herbs, one for ore/engi shit, one for cloth, one for general reserve, one for disenchant and gems, etc. :D

Since we can already send shit among our alts instantly... that's already a shitload of practically instant bank access. Some of us want more and will exploit this for personal use.

It's an exploit cuz it's obviously not designed for personal use.

People will usually take a gold per signature, a couple of e-friends and I have setup our own guilds where we play simply because we don't want to deal with idiots shoving guild charters in our faces. I'm sure between the 3 of us one guild bank will be good, but getting sigs for one alt to make a personal guild bank will be a good idea.

That is until Blizzard attempts to negate it to prevent exactly that. Which is what I assume will happen.

I agree.

However they wont likely UNDO guild banks made right away. :brows:

Id expect some type of min requirement down the line, tho...

I just went south of orgrimmar to the newie areas and offered a gold per signature. Made a new guild in 10-15 min. I called it "Complete Losers"

I'm lucky (in a way) in that I used to be the guild's herb bank so anyone turning in herbs for raid potions sent them to my main mule and I'd sort them based on what herb it was. Pre-TBC I had 6 or 7 FULL mules of nothing but herbs but since TBC is so easy to be self-sufficient they're now for the most part empty level1 characters since the guild sold a ton of the mats over 6 months ago when it was still worth something. One became my own bank (my old 60 hunter) and another holds enchanting mats and random shit that is occasionally valuable but the rest are empty level1's with full 16slot bags and all bank slots purchased which is the reason I haven't deleted them.

People who play a shitload and hold onto things (non-combat pets, odd quest rewards, seasonal outfits, other random rp nerdly items) can take advantage of this, people like me who vendor or DE shit as soon as we've outgrown it really have nothing to gain from it. I'd like to be able to donate to and pull from a guild enchanting tab though since probably half or more of the dusts and essences I have in my bank are from sharded trash mob drops in raids. I'm sure it'd be abused though since we have a handful of people who have never helped the guild or other players out but are always willing to accept handouts, but I'm sure every guild has those.

You can determine access based on guild rank, and it also keeps a log of activity per tab. It tracks the last 50 actions.

Took me about an hour to get 8 sigs on Deathwing (2 were for from e-friends) and I offered 1g and 5g for the last 2.

Good idea for mule characters. Put them in their own guild and 111g for 288 slots, plus their personal bank and bag space. Brilliant!

Cheaper too. With personal banks you get what? 6 extra slots? And it costs around 145g just to get the slots, not to mention the cost of putting the biggest bags into each. And even then it's 6x28 or 168 slots. Compared to 111g for 288 slots that's a bargain.

Hmm. I already spent all that money on alt banks, so i hadnt considered that point. Very true!

I oughta setup something on Tichon for when i transfer my huntard.

This isn't a exploit, this is just gaining more space to store stuff on mule characters.

Blizzard had to make a guild bank, because guilds were sharing accounts to manage the guild bank characters which is against the EUA, I don't personally know anybody that got banned for this, with over 8 million users I am sure there are a few.

Like Smaq said, this is something that people like to have all their RP items and stockpile mats will take advantage of, for me it has never been a issue even with 4 70s and all but 1 profession used between them being a non-gathering prof. I guess if I wanted to keep 10 Halloween wands until next summer, and holly from christmas to next Halloween and have different tabards to match my mood it would be a issue. As it stands when my bank gets full I sell crap, check to see if I have a piece of gear that I will never use or maybe I have too many stacks of one herb or a pile of ore that should be prospected, that is just good house keeping.

I'm going to wait for them to impose something like the guild needs to have at least 10 members to have a guild bank. I'm pretty sure they'll hotpatch something like that 2 - 4 weeks after 2.3 hits.

I suspect they'll hotfix it as well, but they cant undo those who are already using banks. So, i'm not sure why you'd wait. :)

I'm now begging for sigs on tichon alliance for "Blood Eagle Trading Co"...

I spend gold for sigs, have one already setup on my Horde PvP realm and I'm waiting until peak time to do the same on my Alliance PvP realm. Dunno about Normal though, that would be two more (horde and alliance) and I haven't been there is such a long time I have no idea what my gold stores are there.

Another interesting note, I have had people say they can't sign the charter and they swear they don't have another toon's name on it. So unless they are reall greedy and lying the only explanation I could think up was if the toon in question signed a charter that is still around (non-destroyed) that has yet to be registered.
