Atreides 10-18-2007, 04:20 PM So... this month is moving a little slow for Warhammer news, lets hope something comes out of this expo. Anyone getting their hopes up?
If you could have one thing about WAR revealed to you this weekend, what would it be?

With the beta closed (for 2 months), newsletters drying up and recycled interviews; there isn't much to keep up with. I'm hoping the next expo has a nice little chunk of info, aside from announcing a single high-elf career (who gives a shit).
If you could have one thing about WAR revealed to you this weekend, what would it be?
It'd definitely have to be more info pertaining to guild features and whether or not cross realm scenarios are "in" or not (let's hope NOT). Instanced fights are bad enough...
Atreides 10-19-2007, 08:29 AM Yeah, cross-server scenarios need to be avoided. That was one thing that totally killed the BGs for me in WoW. With cross server queues, you lose your identity in the battlefield. When you lose familiar teamates and opposition, you lose a lot of the fun of the BG/Scenario.
Even if they do decide it's necessary, I hope they hold off implementing it for the first year. I don't think the queue system will be too bad in a new MMO where players are eager to participate (provided the server populations are even).
Oxyminoan 10-19-2007, 09:28 PM I read somewhere that Dogs of War (NPCs that help balance sides) are still in, so they haven't fully decided on a course to take. If they DO end up making scenarios cross-server, you won't see me in them outside of a full guild group. I prefer open-field RVR anyway. ;)
I wish they would just go ahead and release the rest of the damn class info and/or show me some damn non-scenario RvR.
Atreides 10-21-2007, 12:33 PM Well... this event wasn't scource for any new info from the developer's end. However, a poster at war-rvr.net gives us a little insight into some of the class's abilities from his experiance playing the demo at the expo. His Post (http://www.war-rvr.net/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=53&topic=3138.msg53464#msg53 464)
Just a little info for some people:
Knight of the blazing sun uses auras that buff up party members. He had 3 auras from what I can remember and found from the skill trainer. 1 of them buffed parry, dodge, block chance by 5%. 2nd one buffed damage by 15% if you attack an enemy by the side or the rear. 3rd one increased running speed by 15%. There's this particular skill that he had where it only worked after you have taunted the opponent. The skill caused critical strike damage on the opponent if you've taunted your opponent.
The Chosen, however, was the opposite whereas his Auras affected enemies and not party members. I dont remember what all his auras did but I remember one particular aura that I really hated. It caused all enemies around him to run 40% slower. 3 people (including myself) were chasing a chosen who used that aura and we couldn't catch up to him so we started tossing weapons at him (i think every melee class has a skill that throws a weapon at an enemy even while you're chasing them) and eventually he died.
The Witch Hunter uses combo point builders and finishers. One of his finishers was a gunshot that snared the opponent's speed to 60%. Witch hunter's were particularly hard to run away from with my chars. as he kept on snaring me and shooting me in the back of the head. Another finisher was a gunshot that did DOT damage over 10 seconds I believe.
my fav. classes that I've tried so far has got to be the shaman and the knight of the blazing sun.
The trainers that taught you skills/morales/tactics organized morales and tactics by what your class is, then the role you play (healer, tank, dps), and then by Race (greenskins, empire etc.). I'm not sure if they had morales and tactics based on which side of the faction you are.
Gundam 10-21-2007, 01:41 PM So every order party will be like, Looking for KotBS for roving gank group! Bah, I was hoping mythic wouldn't give us another requisite bard class.
FalseMyrmidon 10-21-2007, 03:00 PM I'd be very surprised if the 15% run speed didn't get nerfed.
Oxyminoan 10-22-2007, 02:39 PM 15% isn't that much. I'm curious if it breaks on combat, though. If not, that could lead to some serious kiting issues.
Edit:KOTBS's run speed buff does die as soon as combat is engaged. Has it's tactical uses, I'm not sure everyone will get that though.
The chosen snare sounds deliciously overpowered, in comparison, though. They definitely will be the first targets in battle if it stays that way
Atreides 10-24-2007, 06:37 AM Here's a lengthy article written up by the people over at WanderingGoblin, who got to play WAR at E for All.
