Armageddon 10-12-2007, 12:28 AM So i reinstalled tribes a few days ago and started her up, all was going good, setting keys and network prefs. The along came video and i set full screen and went to set my full screen driver but all i had in the list was:
Open GL [ GDI @ 8Bits ]
So i select it and move on to Setup for Open GL but when i select any option i crash right after and all the settings I've made are discarded.
I'm running an ATi x850pro 256mb AGPx8 Card and its not showing up as an option in my video config screen. Does tribes not support AGP cards or is this all because i installed T1 off of the disc i got with T:V... I bet thats it, T:V gave my T1 installation the A.I.D.S

Armageddon 10-12-2007, 07:52 PM Damn, still the same thing, it won't detect my AGP card, just the shitty on board 8bit graphics. Well there goes my attempt at playing tribes again.

JimBodkins 10-21-2007, 06:39 PM I have had issues with AGP recognition (non-tribes related) in the past. In one case it was a driver issue that was very hard to identify.
Run dxdiag, and select the Display tab (on the top). Check to see that you have a button next to AGP Texture Acceleration on the botton left of the dialogue If you dont, then the system really isnt seeing your AGP video and is running it as pci video.
Plasmatic 10-21-2007, 11:23 PM Yeah, Jim is probably right. Tribes just detects what the system is set up to use, if the hardware/ driver is there Tribes will use it. I've seen issues with ATI drivers, but that's a given, but Tribes should be recognizing something.. Unless you're running Vista..
Armageddon 10-23-2007, 12:00 AM Im on XP, i did what jim said and it's all there. Wonder if its the driver and OpenGL causing the problems. Games that use 3D work fine, but opengl games aren't loading a card lol.

Plasmatic 10-23-2007, 04:56 AM Why hello thar Arm, and welcome back. Have you tried the zipped up build I posted yet? If so, try looking at DXDIAG or newer drivers.

Seems my AGP to PCI bridge driver was way outta date, updated it and tribes finally noticed my card. 320+ FPS FTW!
