Cubase Question

Can you change the tempo of a song and not have all the parts move around? (not a tempo change... just the tempo change underneath all the audio parts?

Somehow one of my songs for some reason the click is not lined up and I recorded everything after the original guitar part without a click. I had programmed drums but they were lost in my hard drive crash :(

Now since moving on I think the timing might have been changed from what it was on the original riff and when I change it all the parts move around and don't line up.

Any ideas? Animism? or anyone?

Somehow after my hard drive crash all my recorded wavs have become 32 bt float. Thats why Cubase has them all out of timing and not on the click. This is odd as hell.

I have changed the bit down and it tracks well again.. I have never seen anything like that. I am surprised Cubase even opened it and tryed to track it in timing lol.

There should be an option in one of the toolbars called "Time Warp" that does what I think you're trying to do.

Weird, I've never heard of files changing bitrate like that. I was gonna say you probably changed the tempo from Fixed to Track or something. Anyways, you should be able to convert them back if you import them to a session that's set at your desired bitrate, so not a big deal.

*Edit: You figured it out :)

The thing is all the wavs were in timing with each other but the click was falling after the beat and sometimes the click was stuttering or lagging kinda... I When I noticed that I was thinking my system was being taxed somehow... I then thought to check the bitrate because thats the only thing I could think of that could bring my system down. My laptop has 2 gig of ram and dual 2 gigzhertz pretty fast for a lappy.

And yep, processing that big of audio float was making it lag.

It took us till 3 AM but we finally got drum tracks done lol. I am just glad I figured it out last night and it didn't go for naught.
