General Impressions?

I've got a few friends in beta and from what I've heard this game isn't looking so hot at the moment (max 1 sec cc, things of that nature).

What are the impressions of the TW beta players? Do you see this as being superior WoW? If so, in what ways? Does the PvP seem like it will be engaging and balanced for a long period of time?

Any other general reactions?

Yeah, because it isn't under NDA or anything...

I see the 1 second CC to be a good thing. It encourages a little thing called teamwork. Plus it's always fun being mezzed for 3 minutes while your group gets taken down one member at a time by the assist train...

It's not like WAR has a harsh casting system like DAOC. Casters can still cast even while being beat on, so CC is not as needed for casters.

people are scared to post here for a game under NDA why?

It never stopped anyone before.

I love this, people comparing the "stability" of a beta to a polished release client.

If ANYONE here has ever beta tested ANY game before, you know things are still being tweaked and balanced, its not permanently set in stone. Mythic has plenty of background experience (w/ Dark Age of Camelot) to know what they're doing. I trust that AFTER they're done building the game, that THEN and only then will they start fine tweaking and focusing on balancing gameplay.

Hell, they're basically showing off the game as its being made. I don't think many other companies do that until the game is 1 yr away from release. We're lucky we even know about the game instead of them keeping it under wraps until "It's READY!" (ala Blizzard)

And of course the game may have issues upon release, but I doubt it will be anything dramatic enough to make people who are even slightly interested in leaving immediately (you can count on lag or unforeseen imbalances, I am sure they will be monitoring their game closely though to counter to latter.)

I welcome less CC and no stealth; no buff bots or even pure healbots. They're attempting to do something fresh with the genre and that's exactly what they're doing. There will be plenty of "new" things that this game will have to offer for those specific MMO gamers who seek a game centered around PvP/RvR. I believe those who now or have played WoW to just PvP will fall in love with the final build of WAR. I am also led to believe people who played DAoC will be more than curious to see what their "sister" game has to offer. I am hesitant to include anyone who has ever played AO, SB, L2 or AC: these PvP'ers tend to desire hardcore looting and city building.

As I mentioned, if you play(ed) WoW to just PvP like myself, WAR is the absolute successor.

Lets be honest with both WoW and DAoC's CC fag fest it wasnt exactly an enjoyable time to sit there watching your friends die for 90+ seconds. Its sounding like if they are doing 1 sec cc its a way to gain range or slow an advance for a moment instead of a contest of who has the least amount of lag in an engagement.
