Sensi 08-28-2007, 07:30 PM So, early May this year I decided I was putting on too much weight for my own satisfaction, which led me to start working out. May 9th, I weighed in just about 190, give or take. At this point, my weight is down to ~160, which im very happy about. I work at at the gym normally 5 days a week, weekends being off. My diet at first was just cutting portions in half, and trying to only eat solid meals without munching down late at night before I went to bad (previous problem). Within the past 2 months I started making workout routines for certain days. I've definetly started to have tone in pretty much every part of my body except my abs, which I CANNOT do anything about it seems like. I've been sort of on a protein diet this past month, to see if maybe that would make a different with the abs. I eat 3-4 eggs a day, protein shakes, a good salad, and normally some meat for dinner. I try to keep my calorie intake to be under 2,000 for a day, (yes im counting calories).
The problem i'm having is, I drink a lot. But what i'm wondering is if drinking a 12 pack every night is honestly causing my abs not to show. I never gain weight from drinking anymore, since my metabolism is a lot better it just goes right through me, so this is why I'm not sure if drinking is causing my ab problem. Anyone going through something similar? If so what are you doing to make those abs show? Thanks

Clearly I'm not a dietician OR an alcohol abuse expert, but.
2000 calories a day? AND a 12 pack a day? I'm pretty sure you're either packing in 3000+ a day or only actually eating >1000 (if you're counting the calories from the beer). Not to mention 12 a day seems a little on the abusive side and really not something that goes hand in hand with visible abs.

Alcohol also contributes to cortisol and belly fat.

Beer has calories in it, dude. If you're counting calories, why would you not count the alcohol calories? If you're drinking light beer, you're getting 1200 extra calories every night, not to mention the increased estrogen and cortisol from drinking alcohol. The only way to get your abs to show is to decrease your bf%. You won't do that drinking 1200 empty calories every night.
