Me.

I concentrate better without music blasting into my skull, but thats just me.

I CANNOT do this.

I love music. It is a very essential part of my awesomeness. My gym plays SHITTY FUCKING MUSIC. Not even 'pump-up' music, but just SHITTY MUSIC (read: Christina Aguiliarera, That 'Hey There Delilah' song, shit like that). That makes me vomit.

Also, while running, music makes time fly by, and lately I've been listening to audiobooks which make a 4 mile run seem like one. I can workout without music if the gym isnt playing any, or if Im with somebody, but I definitely can't run without it

edit: also, lately my favorite thing to say to co-workers/friends that come up to say hi while im working out is the line from the vid Snapple posted... "Not now kid I'm in the FUCKIN' ZONE"

I have never used music, I can't. I need to be 100% in the moment.

I listen to audiobooks during cardio though.

its off and on. Some months i listen to whatever, not even pump up music, just music i enjoy.

Sometimes its no music what so ever

I'm a swimmer so when i do cardio i'm just counting strokes or thinking about things in my day or looking at girls asses in front of me

I never do it because I hate the hassle of carrying around an MP3 player and headphones. the cord always fucks me up and its not worth the effort. and i wear a bandana while working out, so it doesnt work well with any earphones at all

The right music can help a lot

Sometimes I just throw off the headphones to focus

I just listen to the music playing at the gym or read the captions on the TVs when they are playing CC.

And it's Not now chief, I'm in the fuckin zone.

What he said minus the swimming part. Some times you can only enjoy a bike ride if you're all there.

If I don't have a TV/Music/someone to talk to I basically can't exercise. I think the longest i've gone is 12 minutes. Its absurdly awful.

people who run with music, what mp3 player do you use? I need something cheap to use.

I have an 8 gig nano, its not cheap, But i got it ebcause I dont only listen to music, being able to listen to audiobooks was a real selling point to me, also, I rarely ever charge the thing it seems.

I had the shuffle, it was great because it was tiny, I thought I wouldnt mind choosing a specific song, but I guess I was wrong....theyre only about 70 bucks though.

My sister has the sansa mp3 player, they give you a decent amount of space for cheap. and now they finally dont look like complete ass and are fairly small/thin.

I use the ipodnano. It fits in your pocket, weighs nothing and is small. The interface is easy and quick to use and only requires one hand.

I got back from the gym a little while ago. Beat my ass off for 42 minutes doing HIIT on the elliptical.

They were playing techno/electronica music with a fast steady beat. It helped me get into the fucking zone.

True story.
