Gundam 08-22-2007, 06:36 PM I can't wait for them to unveil the DE healer, I always like melee healers. I highly doubt it will be a meele healer. Most likely it will be the Sorceress with the Shade as the ranged DPS. Archmage - Shaman Warrior priest - Dark elf? Runepriest - zealot squig herder - high elf Magus - bright wizard Engineer - ? It seems only natural that destruction would have a melee healer. Gundam 08-23-2007, 03:00 AM Really? So far healers and magic dpsers have displayed class symmetry (to some extent). Archmage - Shaman Warrior priest - Dark elf? Whats the destruction Witch Hunter, there is no equivalent. What the is order Witch Elf? There is no guaranteed symmetry, there has been similarities in a few classes, but the game isn't symmetrical. DonkeyofDoom 08-23-2007, 08:41 AM There has been general symmetry in terms of the magic dpsers and the healers because they do not have such a defined role. Magic dpsers shoot stuff and healers kill stuff and heal stuff. The tanks and melee dpsers do not have this symmetry because their role doesn't have much room for variation, it's simply "kill stuff with a melee weapon" or "tank and kill stuff with a melee weapon". However, the magic dpsers can be physical damage dealers, pet damage dealers, and magic damage dealers. The healers can be magic damage dealers (shaman archmage), melee damage dealers (warrior priest), and buffer/debuffers (runepriest zealot). It would make sense for the dark elf healer to be a melee healer since that type of character shouldn't only be available to the order alliance. Although I bet if we knew more about the tanks/melee dpsers, you would find some symmetry. Dalmar 09-08-2007, 10:13 PM I'd bet it will be a melee healer. The Zealot is considered Destruction's "Melee" healer. Oxyminoan 09-08-2007, 11:33 PM Zealot isn't melee at all. He autoattacks and relies on buffs/debuffs to stand toe to toe in melee. He has the ability to do it, but there's much more important things he could and should be doing. Rituals will have to be constantly repositioned as the battles flow (They have a smallish AOE). Harbringers will need to be constantly refreshed/changed according to situation. Nukes and Damage Over Time spells...interrupting casters (this will be a major job of the Zealot, as looking at the skills, heis best suited for it. Hell, he has great damage spells that he can only use AFTER interrupting casters) And if that's not enough to keep a Zealot busy, he'll need to be dropping Heal over Times and straight up heals. I'd be more inclined to call him "Close Support" rather than melee. He'll be the spellcaster standing RIGHT behind the tanks (due mostly to short range on his spells), dropping rituals and Point Blank Area of Effect Heals. But just because he's close to the action doesn't mean he'll be meleeing unless absolutely necessary. (Yes, I like the Zealot) (A LOT) That being said, I expect Dark Elf classes to be as follows: Ranged DPS: Shade or Corsair using a Repeater Crossbow (The bow is about as iconic to Dark Elves as Witch Elves. Not to mention the Swordmaster skill that blocks arrows (wall of steel or something)...I don't think they would have put the skill in JUST to counter squigherders) Ranged Support: Sorceress (hopefully female only) using lifetaps/transfers for healing. Kind of like the Archmage, but instead of sucking power, she'll suck blood. ;) FalseMyrmidon 09-09-2007, 03:04 AM The Zealot is considered Destruction's "Melee" healer. You sure about that? DonkeyofDoom 09-09-2007, 08:00 AM Yeah the dark elves will probably have a physical ranged damage dealer, we already know that the high elves are getting a pet class for their ranged damage dealer. | ||
