Alright, maybe my topic doesn't make sense but what I'm wondering is ..
on Monday, I do some lifts. At some point after that, I'm in an anabolic state where the muscles I damaged are rebuilding. At some point, that stops. When is that point? Right now I am working out some muscle groups every 48 hours, I'm wondering if that's enough time for recovery. I'm also wondering if I can mix in some heavy cardio on Sundays without affecting my recovery.

36 hours after you work out it's back to baseline
24 hours after you work out it's about double baseline
the journal articles that say this are in my science thread

Protein intake may be back to baseline after 36 hours but how long it takes to recover fully varies wildly based on intensity, type of workout, and your general fitness level.
Ptavv, do you feel fully recovered 36 hours after a triathlon?
I would do an experiment on your body and try increasing the rest and see if your performance increases. If not you can try reducing it but 48 hours is probably right where you want to be.

delayed onset muscle soreness doesn't affect muscle synthesis
and comparing a triathalon to a normal day's workout is like comparing a hot wheels car to a mercedes
Always with the fucking cars ptaav. DAMN man. You gotta get LAID!
So, if increased muscle synthesis stops at 36 hours, would it be possible to stagger 2 days of caloric excess with 2 days of caloric defecit and do:
day 1: intense strength work out
day 2: rest
day 3: intense cardio work out
day 4: rest
to effectively lose fat and gain muscle during the same period? I think the fat loss would probably wind up catabolizing the previous days gains. It's probably best to just focus on either gaining or losing.

Yeah, I think it's best to just focus on either/or.
Just get to a BF% that you are satisfied with, then just do a slight, clean bulk/maintainance for the rest of your life, but if you ever start getting a little too much fat, then just a short cut.

your body isn't some sort of magical banker who keeps a daily ledger and then just flips the page and starts over every night at midnight
