Season 3 is likely to start when the Zul'Aman patch (Patch 2.3) is launched, however there is a chance that it might be delayed to some time after the release of that patch.
Additionally it should be interesting for you to know that once season 3 have started, it will be possible for you to buy Season 1 gear using honor points (approximately 15k/piece).

kyuss 08-10-2007, 09:28 PM how many weeks was season 1? how far into season 2 are we?
Ddrakon 08-11-2007, 08:46 AM Wow that's pretty cool.
NiceBoy 08-11-2007, 12:09 PM now the hardcore raiders that lose all their 10 games on monday night will leave arena to go grind honor
Smaqaho 08-11-2007, 12:23 PM Hardcore raiders already have any season1 gear they'd ever want, this will however be nice for alts or rerolls.
Lord Elessar 08-11-2007, 01:08 PM If this doesn't require badges of any sort I'm going to love it. I'll be killing everything that moves in hellfire/zang/halaa and ganking daily questers.
icZer 08-11-2007, 01:10 PM It's definitely nice for rerolls. Was kinda worried about the warr I was lvling up now, but should be np now. Get 70 - full honor/s1 gear and you're gtg.
Swamp Kitten 08-12-2007, 01:30 PM I can't get to World of Warcraft Community Site (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com) or any of its sites :/ have they said when this will hit?
PS Anyone that knows networking, etc. know maybe why I can't get to wow.com ? :(
TseTse 08-14-2007, 02:23 PM Well, i have felt that the basic honor gear was way too expensive (the blues) and should have been like 4-6h a piece so that new chars and new players would have SOMETHING to start pvp with.
In general, i think blizz needs to keep dividing pvp and pve itemization.
I think making Season1 gear into honor-bought stuff is a great move, however, i think requiring 1900 rating to use the S3 stuff is mindlessly silly. I think their intention is to keep low rated raiders from getting access to such high quality weapons which would be WAY beyond what most pve players could otehrwise get through pve.
So, i agree that there is an issue in terms of crappy players who cant pvp worth a damn and have crappy raid progress... suddenly having insanely good gear for pve (by farming arena even when they suck). I just think they handled this the wrong way. Simply put... arena weapons should get 0 durability when you enter a pve raid isntance.

This makes great business sense. Further alienate your casual players (majority) by catering to the demands of the minority
I'm fine with the rating requirement. That's enough.

That made no sense, sorry.
What i am suggesting doesnt alienate anybody or cater to anybody. Ironically, what im talking about is MORE friendly to casual players than what Blizz is proposing.
It just means you cant walk into a pve raid with Season3 weapons when you cant fuckin clear Karazhan. And conversely, hardcore raiders shouldnt be able to own in pvp using BT gear.
The vast majority of players are stuck in kara/mag and can't get above 1900. The best thing going for wow right now is that they've tried to split the gear between pvp and pve, allowing people to progress steadily in EITHER without compromising the integrity of the OTHER. They need to keep the pvp and pve itemization separate esp now that the gear range is so massive.
If your team can't kill Gruul and you cant break 1900, i can understand the logic of saying "no Season3 weap for you to use in Gruul."
My point is that this fucks over new rogues, hunters, etc who really rely on a weap to get equity against better geared teams. They should have a right to invest their saved points into ANYTHING for pvp without arbitrary restriction.
So, Blizz's approach fucks new pvpers. My approach just says you cant kick ass in pvp with pve gear nor kick as in pve with pvp gear. Allowing top progression raiders to dominate in pvp with raiding gear is retarded. Allowing top pvpers to get an edge in pve is similarly retarded. Both screw over casual players.
If you think that's a bad idea... fine.

True, although this will keep changing...
I just find it a strange argument that "hardcore raiders that lose all their 10 games on monday night" will suddenly want to farm honor to get Season1 gear instead of farm arena points.
1. any hardcore raider who loses 10 games a week is pathetic
2. if they arent farming honor already for the honor gear then they just want weaps for pve purposes
3. if they just want the arena weaps then they get screwed out of a cheap way to get raiding gear. :D
Personally, i'm really sick of the raiders who just do arena cuz they want a piece or two for raiding. Meanwhile, pvpers are forced to raid for stormheralds, gems, etc. It's annoying.

What I'm saying is that the majority of people like me get these weapons because it takes less play time than raiding 4 nights a week for 3 hours a pop (and that's light) only to get shafted in a random dkp system by someone who actually clocks in and out day in day out. Casual people like me can't do that but would still like to have comparable gear like it. And come on, it's not like I can get a S3 weapon in a week or two. It still takes me a shit-ton of time.
Yes, I see your point about raiders feeling the same about pvp'ers having, in some cases, better gear than they do but that's why they're implementing the rating requirement. If you're good enough to have a 1900 then you're ok to wield that Uber Merciless Gladiator's Sword of a Thousand Truths. If not then QQ4u. It still doesn't mean someone with a 1900 rating is going to out-gear everyone especially with the fact that there's still no way for a casual to get a Legendary anything. It's just another way of getting epics almost on your own if you're willing to put in the small amount of play time mixed with the long ap waits. And if a casual wants to hop on a [insert any raid here] pickup with non-laughable gear without getting bitch slapped with arbitrary gear conditions then they should be able to.
HaPpY 08-14-2007, 08:41 PM this is expected considering how crappy the current honor gear is
NiceBoy 08-14-2007, 09:55 PM You act as if raiders aren't some of the best PvPers in the game.
dam straight thats what im saying, there are always exceptions but most of the gladiator's/arena players in the top 30 of any bracket do not spend their lives raiding
if they raid, its to get better gear for pvp (aka vortexes for stormherald)

then you are wrong, all the top arena teams are ex-raiders in the guild they are in. They have already gone through the endgame shit.
