[T2] Alternate Master Server + No Cd key needed

After building a new rig I re-installed Tribes 2 last night and was looking forward to a game. I found it hanging at the authentication stage and then read that the master server had finally been taken down on the 3rd of November. A dark day indeed.

Now though I've just found this thread and am eternally grateful for the work that has been put into this patch. I'll patch my installation tonight and see you guys online very soon.

I have lots of webspace and loads of bandwidth if anyone's serious about creating a Tribes wiki though. Useful information is dispursed over a dozen websites in hundreds of pages and that's way too much for a casual user to pick up and play. We need a "Play Tribes 2 online in 3 easy steps" kinda thing with everything a user will ever need linked to on reliable servers.

I was thinking it would be awesome if there was a Tribes 2 wiki. There's obviously enough community support, I was just thinking when someone searches for "Tribes 2" that should be the first thing on the result list.

Upon clicking that sucker it offers the latest free version download (prepatched with this master server list) and because it's a wiki we could get interest in modders posting howtos for installing or using mods.

Anyway, I know we have tribalwar, but with all due respect to an already awesome website it holds a ton of community content but very indirect actual game content. Obviously, the reason is that all of the forum talk, and news chatting and tournament reminders end up making it really hard to find the actual downloadable game or how to use it. Which makes the playerbase suffer..


The bottom line is, if you want more servers/players. You need to make it REALLY stupidly easy to download and start playing. Otherwise you're fighting and uphill battle for eternity.

Contact me if you're interested in server space, I could also cook up a website and interface.

So im not very computer literate, but i installed t2.downloaded the master patch extracted it in my t2 folder and opened the game up with the t2 online alternate master server. i get into game in lan mod, go to servers and none come up? any suggestions as to why?

Thanks, i d/l the game and patch from that site, i ran the patch,went into lan game and still no servers.. do i have to tweak anything? Are there always servers up and running in lan mod?

You can run the game normally in Online mode with Tribes Next.
