Compared to most other pbars they're right in the same range of nutritional info, only they don't taste like dry wax and cardboard. I'd actually pick this over a snickers or butterfinger for taste, I picked up a couple handfuls at Walmart for $1.30 ea.

The only ones I've tried are peanut butter and chocolate.
Darkstrand 08-05-2007, 09:29 PM I like how they taste too but they're soy protein so you have to use them judiciously.
Soy protein makes you grow tits amirite?
(honestly I have no idea about the pro-estrogen properties of soy protein, but I really want tits)

I buy detour bars sometimes if I get candy bar cravings. Taste good.
##EDIT##
There are low sugar versions of Detour also available
Dennis 08-05-2007, 11:27 PM I've had both Detour and Builder's and they are both my favorite protein bars. Builders tastes the best and least like a protein bar, but Detour is probably the healthiest and pretty good tasting also.
gRraWr 08-06-2007, 04:44 AM I eat the regular cliff bars sometimes. Good stuff.
John the Jammer 08-06-2007, 11:10 AM yes they are. and are only 99 cent at publix

Duke Of Wellington 08-06-2007, 07:00 PM Ever likely they taste good, 20g of sugars? Also high in fat compared to others.
Clever 08-06-2007, 07:36 PM I don't trust protein bars. In the past a bunch of them have been nailed for being wayy off there label claims (including Detour and Chef Jay bars). Because protein bars are categorized as a "nutritional supplement" the claims made on the label are not checked by the FDA or any other regulatory body. Basically they are free to write whatever they want on the label.
Atleast w/ real food you know for a fact what you are getting.

I dont know if I really buy into the whole estrogen/soy deal... oh well, Ill still eat tofu and see if my dick shrinks/I grow breasts.
But those bars look good... Im not too crazy about the 20 grams of sugar though.
I don't buy into phytoestrogens giving me bitch tits, I think it's just marketing by the makers of other types of proteins. I haven't read anything official though, so my opinion is based on absolutely nothing other than personal conviction that plant based nutrition is generally good for me.
20g of sugar, though? Shit .... what's that all about?
Darkstrand 08-07-2007, 12:58 AM I don't like soy protein because it's metabolized slowly compared to whey
cancer 08-07-2007, 01:53 AM well for 8g of fat and 20g of sugar it better taste good.
Bomba 08-07-2007, 02:20 AM I don't like soy protein because it's metabolized slowly compared to whey
i dont like soy either but u cant not like a protein based on the speed it is metabolized. certain times certain proteins are better

That's like saying I can't like a Lamborghini because it goes fast.
When is soy protein ever a better option than whey protein (without considering price)?

Darkstrand, a bunch of studies have actually shown that a slow digesting protein, Casein is more anabolic (leads to more muslce mass) then Whey protein.
It is not as simple as fast = good. A slower digesting protein means a more steady stream of amino acids in the blood. Hypothetically this could let the body make better use of them and keep blood amino-acids evelated for a longer time.

i didnt say soy was better than way i said u can't judge a protein based on how fast it's metabolized
