Good news for fans who didn't make it to BlizzCon this year but still would like to check out the event: Giga will be providing live coverage from BlizzCon in the form of a live video stream. Coverage will include the StarCraft, Warcraft III and World of Warcraft Arena tournaments, and much more. You will need to download the Octoshape plug-in to access the stream.

I saw the semi finals, finals, and grand final when I was there.

It was a total joke...MoB trashed everyone else in the competition. The entire time at blizzcon they never let a single one of their players die.

The whole thing was really lame simply because there were so many disqualifications. You really didn't get to see what each team was really capable of. The were disqualified because their parent's name was on the account or something and not their name. Pretty lame shit like that.

Notorious would have won the entire competition. They're a U.S. team btw. But they had 2 of their main guys disqualified...and then there were two other guys who were so pissed off that they just left.

The Hukhukhuks had a few of their main guys disqualified as well.


Mob gaming had this coach that acted like a drill sargent. It was a total joke...he would point out shit that was going on like 30 secs after it already happened. It didn't matter though, their team was on the ball.

MoB's coach is the godfather, known for being loud and a prick to the other team. Personally, I dislike the guy, but apparently some people think he's a really good manager.

I think Pandemic would have won if they had their priest. It's a shame MoB is probably going to have such an ego now, because I'm sure had the REAL top teams been there, they'd have been curbstomped.

Didn't this exact thing happen the first time around with other teams? You'd think they would've corrected this before entering.

Sadly the 2v2 tournament was just as bad - in one of the battlegroups the #64 team was there...

Either way the DQ's then affected who was there last week, but teams that had DQ's dug their own grave so fuck em. I can't believe a team with a hunter did that well, and moreso I can't believe how terrible the sk gaming team was after watching some of their play in the past from other games.

I can't believe that the highlight of my weekend (online, that is) was watching the Starcraft matches on giga.de. The WoW 5v5 games were terribly boring and not worth watching, I've never played WC3 so watching that was an abortion, but the SC games were fucking amazing to watch. I'm sure part of it is the shoutcaster for SC was a great announcer and filled dead air well while WC3 casters barely spoke english (and the game makes no sense to me personally). The germasian guy covering the WoW 5's (also did WC3) couldn't have been worse.

If memory serves there were gamecards around on intial release. Remember those cards pretty much allow any kid to play without a credit card.

well your memory sucks...the game cards were not available until way after release. It doesn't matter though, every single team including Mob gaming had members of their team DQ'd. Mob didn't even have a priest in their winning team.

I was talking with a guy from the Hukhuks about Noto near the stage and suddenly Nitrana comes out of no where to cry about what happened.(I just found out it was him from looking at pics) The amount of faggotry emanating off of him was too much for everyone around us to handle. We had to pretty much ignore him until he went away.

It sucks what happend to them, and I know they would have had a better chance if their best wasn't DQ'd...but c'mon every single team had DQ's that hurt them badly. That didn't stop them from playing. They didn't have to give up like pussy's.

When I was there, the SC matchs were the best, the final match was fucking crazy, that game still owns. Makes me want to dust off SC right now...

Starcraft tourneys were really good. Nal_ra vs. Iris and Nal_ra vs. Saviour were insane. I didn't even know that level of micro was possible.

Wacraft III tourney was terrible. I almost fell asleep during the finals. They ended up sending trees at one another. TREES. Do you know how long it takes to move trees from one end of the map to the other?

WoW tourney was cool, but it was hard to tell what was going on.

The starcraft shift was AMAZING (esp nalra vs iris). I "bought" starcraft and started playign it immediately after that. :lol:

As for wow arena, whatever.

8 of the 14 #1 north american teams were DQd before the quals even happened. 26 of the top 50 rated teams were DQd. Put bluntly, even pandemic cant claim to be the best when they never saw the vast majority of top teams during quals... and when only about 10 teams even played at quals.

I respect their frustration, but they showed themselves to be bad sports and unprofession in how they handled Blizzcon. They knew the score going into it. They had nothing to complain about when they TOOK the invites to go on those terms. Most teams got screwed, albeit not as badly as them. Walking off the stage and crying about crap showed them to be rather immature.

That said, if they had their full team against all the other full teams there, nobody there would have touched them. Nope. Maybe some of the other top tier teams that got cut but NONE of the other teams there would beat them, esp not the USA teams. Pandemic has already raped them all. I'd just like to see them face the other top teams that got cut before quals, or the legit top europe and korean teams (as i understand it, the korean teams were the most hard hit by the DQs outside of the canadian factor).

Heck, lately i think the BG9 hype is just that... all hype. I respect Pandemic but i think there's more hype than reality to BG9 in general. Re3cently, a team left Malganis for BG9. In less than a week, they took #1 in 3v3 and #7 in 5v5. They werent even the top malganis team. That says volumes.

All considered, i am glad MoB won. I know europe didn't get to send their very best either, but the teams that came were way below the level i'd have expected.

As for the godfather... i laugh at those who hate on him. He is what he is. He's a practical star in e-sports for good reason. He brings an entertainment factor to this nerdfest and he takes coaching seriously. Good for him.
