casein vs whey

My daily routine usually has me lifting roughly at 9:30-10pm and finishing at about 11 or so. I then have my whey protein shake after workout and usually i sleep around 1ish. My question is, should I be taking casein instead of whey or is two hours an alright amount for the whey to digest. I'm just now learning a bit more about casein and was wondering should I make the switch or not? I'm looking to lose weight and get cut up btw, so far I've dropped from 180 to 155 in the past 3 months. Any help would be appreciated.

casein causes cancer
(according to some studies)

At that time, I'd take a shake of a very simple sugar to promote anabolism (Dextrose, Malt, Glucose) and some caseine. The simple carb will replenish muscle glycogen stores yielding a tangible anabolic benefit, and the slow digesting casein will hit the bloodstream later on while you sleep to stay anabolic longer (since you won't be taking in any calories)

I mean, that's my textbook understanding of it. I don't actually have protein with my PWO ... but it's not at 11pm.

1) why don't you protein pwo ?

2) the simple sugar to promote anabolism - sure you're boosting your insulin levels and your transport of protein to muscles.

3) I would go all or mostly casein at 11pm, in studies casein can actually beat whey in terms of suppling aminos to muscles its just a slow release. (i'll grab them if necessary)

I'm overfilling the tank in that department already throughout the day.
Sometimes I'll mix 1/2 part whey in there if I haven't been eating enough over the course of the day.

its generally argued that post/pre and breakfast are the three most important especially with maintaining muscle mass. dunno why would you skip post

Yeah, there's a lot of arguing.

I supplement BCAAs, which count as protein. I don't regularly slam a bunch of whey in my PWO. The latest stuff I've been reading indicates it's not beneficial. The BCAAs are important though. Too much protein can cause glucagon to be released into the blood, which impairs insulin release. I want as much insulin as possible.
