What foods have you guys discovered, aside from whey protein, that are pure protein (90%+ lean). So far I have Tuna, Chicken Breast and Ground beef down but I'm looking for more alternatives.

TeckMan 07-29-2007, 06:00 AM even 90% lean beef has at least half the calories from fat. just fyi. the other meats are good clean cuts though BeLiaL 07-29-2007, 10:22 AM by pure protein do you just mean a lot of protein? You need fat in your diet to be healthy. Gwokable 07-29-2007, 05:07 PM I'm looking for foods that get 80-90% of their calories from protein. If you fry the beef then put it in a strainer, you remove most of the fat from it. I'm looking for things I can fry up/bake/etc that are lean to boost my protein intake. ptavv 07-29-2007, 05:28 PM *shakes head sadly* sereneDelusions 07-29-2007, 09:16 PM uhhh try NutritionData.com NutritionData's Nutrition Facts Calorie Counter (http://www.nutritiondata.com/) SL83 07-29-2007, 10:11 PM Uh...I think Gwokable is trying to get skinny by going on a crash diet full of protein, low/no fat and carbs. You will feel like shit if you do this. You need carbs, you need fats. Just don't eat as much as you do dude. Seriously. ptavv 07-29-2007, 10:29 PM SL83, he eats 55% of his calories as fats. And he's trying to lose weight. It's clearly brilliant. CapnPyro 07-29-2007, 10:44 PM A good addition to your diet is low fat cottage cheese, pretty high in protein, little fat, little calories. Rayn 07-30-2007, 12:02 AM Various types of fish and shellfish, turkey, many types of game meats. Gwokable 07-30-2007, 05:00 AM Uh...I think Gwokable is trying to get skinny by going on a crash diet full of protein, low/no fat and carbs. You will feel like shit if you do this. You need carbs, you need fats. Just don't eat as much as you do dude. Seriously. The funny. I fail to see it. :domotwak: SL83 07-30-2007, 07:45 AM The funny is you thinking you put on 4 pounds of muscle in 2 days. ptavv 07-30-2007, 11:30 AM Well he starved his body of protein before that, so clearly it gained super protein absorption and utilization powers. Gwokable 07-30-2007, 07:33 PM I asked it it was possible to do so. Lets see if I put it in the grand language of trollish retards and see if you two will understand. You guys took "Hay guyz, can you liek, gain a lot of lean mass from eating a bunch of protein when starved for it n' stuff?" as "rawh rawh rawh, I'm a big fatass and I gained 4000 MILLION pounds of muscle in 2 days by consiming a diet of water, gunpowder and smack! RAWFELZZZ Aren't I awesome and fat? Give me Hag n' Daz!". Atkins is a fucking stupid diet that works for only a few genetically retarded people. I burn a full 500 more calories per day on cayenne pepper/vitamins/ginko baloba than otherwise, and it's similar with meat; I'll burn a few hundred more calories per day by eating 150-250 grams of lean meats in the morning and afternoon along with veggies, nuts, etc. I want to boost my protein intake from around 15% to 20-30% of my total calorie intake and on occasion go higher/lower depending on what I feel is needed. The reason why is because I want to maintain lean body mass as I lose weight and force the calories burned to mostly be from bodyfat and consuming extra protein is a way to do that. ptavv 07-30-2007, 07:40 PM I asked it it was possible to do so. Hey Gwokable, how will your "feelings about what is needed" effect the physiological impossibility of your body absorbing as much protein as you're eating? Also, if you think you're burning 500 extra calories per day because you're ingesting cayenne pepper, vitamins, and ginko baloba, I have a bridge to sell you. Finally, consuming extra protein is not a way to force your body to burn more fat. Exercising for long periods of time frequently is a way to do that. You're just going to teach your body that the first thing it ought to do with protein it ingests is convert it to glucose, which will be enormously unhelpful in trying to maintain muscle mass. Have fun though, you've systematically discarded every scientifically based post on this forum in favor of your own hare brained ideas of how much protein you "feel is needed" and were wondering if you could deprive it of protein and then magically make it absorb a bunch in 3 days to gain a few pounds of muscle mass. Clearly you're on the right track to weight loss (). Your mindset is perfect too, "Fuck hard work, I'm just going to eat cayenne pepper and burn 500 extra calories! Those 'hard work' ways are for schlubs!" Rayn 07-30-2007, 09:12 PM Man, some of you fuckers troll this forum. Be helpful. ptavv 07-30-2007, 09:14 PM I've tried to point out how stupid his whole outlook on losing weight is nicely and helpfully and all it got me was him lashing out at me, and others in this thread, because of how amazingly impossible his "is it possible" was. cancer 07-30-2007, 09:22 PM if you want to boost your protein intake, i think you should try taking soy or plant-based protein which is much healthier for you. ptavv 07-30-2007, 09:23 PM I think you should make sure that you eat all of the different types of protein because your body can't make some of them (we don't know which ones!!!) and you need them all, so you should make sure your protein has all the different types. SL83 07-30-2007, 09:28 PM I had a protein shake with 2 slices of whole wheat bread upon waking up this morning. I had 3 eggs, bacon and cheese on a roll for breakfast at work. For lunch I had a turkey hero with a bit of cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, and honey mustard. I came back and had a protein shake with milk and a banana. I had some cheese and crackers. I had some chicken for dinner. Protein count is about to about 147 for the day, and that's not counting the lunchtime sandwich or the cheese and crackers or the eggs and bacon and cheese sandwich. I'm pretty sure I hit my daily requirement. I'm not going insane over eating 2 grams * my lbs in protein. That'd be fucking insane. Edit: That IS counting the eggs and bacon. Not the cheese or the protein in the bread. | ||
