electratokyo 07-27-2007, 07:00 PM changed my pass, vendered my gear, took my gold.
blizzard recommended i delete all "3rd party addons" for fear of trojans, is there any validity to this?
any experience with how long restores take?

Anything is possible.
Can't blizz trace the account the gold was mailed to?

probably. the GM sent it to their "account investigation specialists" (that's what the email said). so i'm guessing since it's a weekend, it's gonna be awhile.
i don't care about the gold so much, just want my armor back.
Uncle Slappy 07-27-2007, 07:20 PM I've always heard they're very prompt.

Mangle-Me-Elmo 07-27-2007, 10:14 PM lol
NiceBoy 07-27-2007, 11:52 PM keylogger most likely
probably from a UI or addon u may've downloaded
restores can take up to a week
Reggs 07-28-2007, 01:37 AM When you find out who it is you should totaly wisper him and call him a twat.
KainiaK 07-28-2007, 04:40 AM OMG, Reggs do you play wow?
Reggs 07-28-2007, 04:45 PM Off an on
I've never been a very serious player.
electratokyo 07-28-2007, 07:13 PM they restored it today, they're fast.
I had this happen to me.
You probably have a keylogger. I got mine through a rogue banner ad on curse gaming. It's possible it's an addon, but unless you have some crazy sketchy addons, it's probably not the problem.
One thing you should do that's a big life saver: Check 'Remember my account name' ... when the keylogger steals your password ... if your account name is already typed in .. it can't log that. So there's no use having a password without an account name.
Restore took a few days for me, but it didn't fucking matter. They only restored my main, all my alts were still fucked, even the lowbies stripped down to nude. Everything was still fucked. Hard to reassemble all your gear and shit, but better than losing everything.

as a precaution i deleted all my addons after i changed my pass, and rebuilt a new UI from scratch using just wowace stuff.
yeah, my first main (still at 60) on a different server got stripped and they didn't restore him =/ not that i play him, but still blows. all my alts are fucked as well. i was lucky though, the GM restored every last thing on my main, so i guess it could have been a lot worse.
how would a banner add launch a keylogger? i'm sure crazier things have happened, but i guess i'll stay away from curse-gaming now.
If you haven't updated windows (for various reasons) since around January, you're open to keylogging through banner ads.
