TseTse 07-27-2007, 11:33 AM Umm... in case folks didnt know, you can currently copy Premade 70s with shitloads of Tier6 and pvp gear (36 slot bags filled with gems n shit).
http://test.worldofwarcraft.com/ptr/character-copy.html
Warning: copying certain classes seems to take a LOT longer than others, esp on the pvp server. Also, there are queue times at night.
I'm taking this as an opportunity to play/learn a few classes i want to better understand (pally, warrior and shadow priest).
1slob18c1 07-27-2007, 12:38 PM I have a warlock and soon to be druid on the PTR
Warlock - Caen
Druid - Caenn
shaman/pally/lock being created. Prob most excited to try the Pally.

Get out of my brain!
FOURSTAR 07-27-2007, 06:59 PM priest, druid, shammy, hunter created :)
Uncle Slappy 07-27-2007, 07:06 PM edit: nm, i think i figured it out
pally/war/mage/priest horde side!
Feannag 07-28-2007, 05:48 PM Um isn't it more difficult to play a class you've never tried when they are 70 and decked-out? Wouldn't you experience seem skewed if you did that then leveled a lowly lvl 1 with non-raid gear?
Unless you bot/pay for powerleveling.

I'm just doing it for fun

Not at all. I learned how to play on a priest from having a 29 and 39 twink + playing someone else's 60 in BWL (full BWL/AQ40 gear) as a sub from time to time when they had to leave for family reasons. It's how I decided to level my priest from 39 to 70 actually.
electratokyo 07-28-2007, 07:16 PM neat, i'll try it out.
edit: i guess it takes 2 days to get a char on there. least that's what the site is telling me.
So once you download the client. When you login you should see (Public Test Realm) on the server list?
Uncle Slappy 07-29-2007, 09:26 AM You have to run the file you downloaded in the WoW directory.
Oh and my guys copied, took about 2 days. This server is full of tards, corpses everywhere at the starting area.
I gotta go to a meeting at work, then I think I'm gonna see what kinds of instances I can solo with these epicd out mofos. We should try and hook up in-game.
PhrenzY 07-29-2007, 10:50 AM Does your account have to be active to be able to do this?

Does it take over everything you have in your directory? Change anything or something like that?

Yes.

It just creates another folder called wowtest, it installs pretty quick, so I doubt it copies everything.
Swamp Kitten 07-29-2007, 04:03 PM It just uses patch information and an updated .exe and server information--all the rest comes out of your previously existing .mpq's, so it takes like 20 seconds to install.
So I downloaded the client and ran it and it started a blizzard downloader thing and it is WoW-2.1.3.698-to-0.2.0.6932-enUS-downloader.exe
I run this and look for a folder in my WoW directory that says WoWTest?
Just wanna make sure.
Swamp Kitten 07-29-2007, 07:19 PM I haven't used WoWTest or WoW for that matter in quite a while, but from what I remember yeah, it's in your directory, called wowtest. Inside should be a green and black colored wowtest.exe (instead of gold and black like the regular wow.exe). Run that, and I'm pretty sure the test client should load.
