Is it bullshit or good advice?
Wearing extra clothes to "get your core temp up"Reggs 07-27-2007, 06:02 AM Is it bullshit or good advice? BeLiaL 07-27-2007, 08:23 AM What is your goal? Yea, it's going to get your warmer faster and keep you warmer, because the heat won't be able to escape as quickly. If you're gonna run laps or sit in a sauna to lose weight, this will help. DropSquad 07-27-2007, 11:22 AM also remember that by "losing weight" by running with lots of clothing on etc is mostly just water. so a day or 2 of drinking enough water and you're going to put it all back on. cancer 07-27-2007, 04:17 PM you're just going to sweat more...plus it's fucking summer. you don't need more clothes to get hot. ayz 07-27-2007, 04:23 PM it's bullshit you're going to get tired faster and possibly overheat and/or dehydrate yourself if you want to lose weight, don't load yourself down with clothes and just run for longer one of the only reasons you should be trying to heat up your body more is if you want to lose water weight Rayn 07-27-2007, 04:25 PM I am surprised anyone buys this bullcrap. Want to prevent hypothermia while hiking? Get your core temp up. Want to expedite weight loss? Don't. Sweat suits don't make you burn more fat, or lose weight faster, or expel toxins or anything positively related to fitness. They make you sweat, so you are dehydrated. You weight a little bit less until you rehydrate yourself. It's water weight. The only people I know who use it legitmately are wrestlers who need to drop 1-2 lbs in a very short time period to make weight. shadow skill 07-27-2007, 04:31 PM I am surprised anyone buys this bullcrap. DropSquad 07-27-2007, 10:32 PM I know a kid who is currently ranked 4th wrestling out of UofM. His first 2 years he was wrestling 40 lbs below his bodies natural weight. He said he could lose 20lbs in 3 days. Mind you, that was all water, but thats just sick. He said the turning point was when his buddy found him passed out in the sauna with a sweat suit on. Now he only wrestles 20lbs under his reg body weight. blazindave 07-27-2007, 11:28 PM Sounds like cheating. ayz 07-28-2007, 01:12 AM sounds like blazindave yet again doesn't know what's up and is talking out of his asshole Raven 07-28-2007, 01:43 AM I wouldn't want to wrestle 10 lbs dehydrated but I know guys who used to do it .. time to eat the x-lax! you would if you were like twice the size of the guys you were gonna wrestle. but yes, this is fucking retarded unless cutting weight for some type of competition. and even then it can be extremely dangerous if done wrong blazindave 07-28-2007, 01:46 AM sounds like blazindave yet again doesn't know what's up and is talking out of his asshole Alright faggot, then explain it to me. Dennis 07-29-2007, 03:55 AM Watch season 5 of the Ultimate Fighter where that one fat dude cuts from like 170 to 157 in less than a day. He didn't make the cut and it was pretty insane doing cardio in a sauna with a "plastic bag" suit thing on, but he lost a shit load of weight fast. Gwokable 07-29-2007, 04:01 AM No. It'd hold the heat in but your body would go "Fuck, I'm too hot" and crank down the metabolism. :-/ What you want to do is wear clothing that lets you be as cold as possible so heat is taken way from the body and the body will go "fuck, I'm too cold, ramp er up!". Sweat suits make you sweat. Sweat carries toxins out of the body. ayz 07-29-2007, 11:11 AM Alright faggot, then explain it to me. it's not cheating there is the weigh-in the day before the fight, and there is the day of the fight. thus there are limits on what the difference can be; while you cut down weight for your weigh-in, you're not going to come in the next day 40 lbs heavier. the trade-off at fighting at a lighter weight is that you are dehydrating your body to make weight, and you will be much more exhausted during the fight itself. also, everyone cuts weight for weigh-ins, as you want to fight as light as you can so you're not at a height/reach disadvantage. Dennis 07-29-2007, 03:53 PM nvm Raven 07-29-2007, 10:29 PM Watch season 5 of the Ultimate Fighter where that one fat dude cuts from like 170 to 157 in less than a day. Sherk cuts from 180 to 155. cheating? im not sure, weight classes are neccesary and its impossible to tell people its illegal to 'cut' weight since you can do it by simply not eating/drinking and running alot or saunaing etc. you COULD make weigh ins the day of, but people would probably still cut and it'd be more dangerous for them. i don't know. i know alot of people who cut 10 pounds or more for grappling comps that don't do day ofs | ||
