from the vide in his video i guess he 2v1's arena. seems to do a pretty alright job but the people he plays suck so bad.
what kind of chance does a marks hunter stand in the arena? do any of you guys arena with a marks hunter and actually live to tell the tell about LOS and OMGF DEAD ZONE WTF?
Brag to me.. Vids/thoughts/theorycraft welcome.
JustinCase 07-16-2007, 11:44 PM my mage takes down hunters all day every day
NiceBoy 07-16-2007, 11:51 PM i dont have any hunters on my arena teams
but ive seen some great great survival hunters in 5v5. with enough skill with trapping and 30%+crit unbuffed, they can lay down some hurt

just curious, you're ice with full frozen weave set. so hunters better be easy for you. on my mage, I had problems with hunters when i was ice but found them easy as hell when i was fire. Ice was much better before that hypothermia bullshit anyway.
JustinCase 07-17-2007, 06:56 AM I went 10/48/3 for a few weeks to try it out, it was absolutely horrible for me in pvp (arena and BGs). Although that could be because I am so used to a frost spec.
hypothermia isn't TOO bad, although it does suck
TseTse 07-17-2007, 09:48 AM We've been arguing this for a week or two, and we decided we'd force our hunter to play marks or not to play at all. If you look around the armory, i think you'll find that the hunters in 3v3 and 5v5 that are most highly rated are usually marks these days.
2v2 i think has more room for BM's obvious strengths but in most 5v5 configs you'll want the survival and marks talents over longer fights.
Generally speaking, there are a lot of teams out there with only one strat: kill something in 15 seconds.
That can obviously work, but i think that isnt the best strat for most teams and certainly doesnt appear to be the strat of the top teams. Sure, they may often pop somebody quickly but that isnt their entire strat. Hunters cant be on a team just to pop somebody in the first 20s, imo.
Fake training, mana draining for a while, suppressing dps for 15-20s, splitting dps to burn mana and feel out weaknesses... these are things i see in the top teams, esp in the vids.
Situations like that, the hunter that's BM becomes a liability because they are kinda a one trick pony &it's all or nothing. :(
Same with rogues, if not much worse. I'm not sure either are good ideas in 5v5 if you want to go far.
TF_Pitfal 07-17-2007, 10:30 AM I dont have any hunters on my 5v5. However our number one priority is to kill the hunter first while we CC the healers. A decent hunter left unharrassed can really make it really difficult to win.

LOL
1slob18c1 07-17-2007, 04:04 PM I 2v2 with a hunter and we do decent. 9-1 This week up to 1690 and we haven't been together too long. He is rocking a mm/surv spec for wyvern sting and damage bonuses for me which is working out alright.
My armory, click 2v2 for him

Fireman X 07-17-2007, 04:31 PM I 2v2 with my hunter and a priest
The only groups I have a problem with are resto sham/druid groups who LOS.
I couldn't imagine being a BM hunter in the arena, you have to have scatter shot to place people into your traps....intimidate doesn't come close
not to mention silence shot usually kills anyone who decides to heal when they are less than a third life...silence/mutli/arcane = kill
I can see wyvern being useful, but anyone who loses to a BM hunter needs to learn to LOS - after 18 seconds he can't do shit
--------------------------------------------------------
In my experience, hunter + (dwarf)priest is the best combo you can do for 2v2.
1slob18c1 07-17-2007, 04:40 PM The only team we lost to this week, again only 10 games because we went 9-1, was a pally/war team. It came down to the war and my hunter friend and a few hundred health on both sides.
The warrior first walked over his trap and then intercepted through it. Neither of which set off the trap. We were ripped off, of all the free traps hunters get, we got the faulty one.
1slob18c1 07-17-2007, 06:34 PM Scorpion + rogue with deadly poison up ..go go cleanse spam
Viper sting + deadly + scorpion pet = its over for that healer no matter what their class.

No FUCKING shit, buddy. That's raid spec for fire. No PvPability in that build whatsoever.
JustinCase 07-18-2007, 06:54 AM plenty of people pvp with 10/48/3
Calder 07-18-2007, 09:58 AM The really really really really really bad ones
Or those who don't feel like respeccing after PVE
