noobfactorNF 07-16-2007, 11:33 PM Today I tryed and completed curling a 45 lb. Plate on each side.
The thing is, Im not sure how much my gyms French Curl bar weighs.
I asked the fellow next to me who was benching I belive 4 plates each side.
He told me 35, his cronies said 25, Either way its equal to or more than 110lbs.
The MORAL to the story is:
If you have a hard time breaking a platue, decrease the reps by 2-3 and up the weight. After about 2-3 weeks youll be pumpin out 8 reps if you lift like that.
Also, if you can curl a 45 plate on each side, congrats I just joined the leauge of gentleman who look cool doin it ;)
BeLiaL 07-16-2007, 11:38 PM Haha
Yea, most EZ-Curl bars weigh 35 lbs, but some do weigh 25
I eagerly await the day I can barbell curl my own bodyweight -- still quite a ways off
noobfactorNF 07-16-2007, 11:43 PM A young man my exact age who I went to school from 6-12th grade workouts at my gym and his name is Bradley Castleberry.
You can see him on Musclemania (http://www.musclemania.com) as top teen bodybuilder.
He weighs 225lbs at 5"10 and curls 275lbs barbell. When theese guys workout, along with the guy mentioned above its phenomenial. 5 plates on each side for benching and such. Placing dumbells on dumbells because they need like 150+lbs.
Anyways how much do you weigh? and what are ur current stats. Im not talking 1 Rep max either, I did the 125lbs 7x2
BeLiaL 07-16-2007, 11:59 PM I weigh 155lbs and am only up to 3x10 of 65 lbs.. my biceps have always been one of my weak points

curl with ur back im sure
can do it, but not really useful. i work out with 35 plates instead in sets of 8-10
i do my curls standing with my back against a wall
my weight has gone from 135 to 165 now back down to 150. i'm going to try and drop to a walking weight of 145 (while getting leaner) so i can fight at super lightweight/welterweight
noobfactorNF 07-17-2007, 02:22 AM curl with ur back im sure
just a tid bit, but then again, no one ever says anything about someone who is doing negative reps when benching ect, essentially its the same

no reason to curl that much weight. my arms are 18in and i never curl over 80lb. what are u trying to prove?
edit: im drunk and u annoy me
Goshin 07-17-2007, 03:57 AM my arms are 13.5 inches.
What are YOU trying to prove?
(:))
Familiar 07-17-2007, 05:58 AM I agree with Bomba. You will get more mass gains out of doing something right than going big and cheating. Slowing down your reps and squeezing at the peak of the curl is the best thing you can do for yourself.
I usually whore the preacher pad thing. Do normal grip, hammer, and reverse. Afterwards I will mix it up between a few things. Bomba have you ever done drag curls I think it's called? Looks like it would burn pretty good :D
WorstAim 07-17-2007, 06:02 AM my dick is bigger than all of your arms
familiar is fat he doesn't work out

How you work out is your own business, but lifting with improper technique isn't comparable to doing negative reps. During negatives, you still use good form... it's just so that you can give you muscles an extra workout at the end. Most muscle breakdown and gains are made from the negative portion of your lift.
-JJJ- 07-17-2007, 12:32 PM What exactly is a negative lift?

ya I dunno about that
Bomba 07-17-2007, 01:31 PM What exactly is a negative lift?
i dont know the scientific explanation (i think its the muscle contraction when the cell lengthening) but as far as biceps its the part after you curl up and are going back down to start position
I was wondering how long it would be before a curl bragging thread
Thanks
tard
so have you been training anything else "hard" too?
BeLiaL 07-17-2007, 03:23 PM Like Bomba sort of said, the negative portion of a lift is when you are lengthening your muscle. The positive portion is when you contract. That being said, doing negatives is when someone helps you through the positive phase of a lift and you perform the negative portion very slowly (think 6-8 seconds). You are also able to lift around 30-40% more weight doing negatives, which causes even more stress on your muscles.
sargonnas9 07-17-2007, 10:28 PM Or you can cheat on the positive. My favorite method is to do my set and then do as many negatives as I can. Work to absolute failure. Even step down a few weights and continue. Sure you'll feel like a pussy curling 25lb dumbells at the end, butit's worth it.
