Mother may I?

I don't play T2 b/c of all the reason's listed. Probably the greatest reason of all is because everytime I play T2 it's like going from a Lamborghini to a Pinto speed wise.

T2 will be FAR more demanding to field teams for competitive play so I wish ya'll tribes giving it a go, much luck. Did I mention that pub games suck 100 times that of T1 pubs? If I only have a half hour to play before I sleep, I will choose T1 over T2 anytime. Why? Because I can get in some serious action and get my fill for the day(this is why we game isn't it?).

That same half hour spent in T2 CTF will give me alot of travel, many repairs, and so much more boring shit. I don't think I have to elaborate on this any further.

I know tons of people who are playing T2. What's funny is, they play T1 more. They are not spending every hour of the day in the game, draining that last second they can to learn T2 like they did T1. They are going with the flow so to speak. "Trying" to like T2. I give you guys props, but at the same time why would you force yourself to play?
Did you have to force yourself to play T1?

Now, I don't think T2 is a shitty game. It's just not for me. T1 and T2 are two totally different games and I think this is what Nat was saying. In his defense, I was glad he posted. I wanted to know why some of the greats of T1 weren't playing T2 just out of curiosity. I'm NOT surprised to see his reason's. It's the general concensus among those who aren't playing T2 or so it seems. Btw, I've put weeks and weeks into T2, and it's not different than the first couple hours of gameplay for me, so obviously Nat didn't waste his time like the rest of us did..heh.

If you play T2 and like it, that is awesome, it is your type of game. I'll just stick with the faster play of T1 as there seems to be no lack of people playing, only servers.

I'm most upset with Dave G. for obvious reason's stated in other peoples threads. Quake 1 to Quake 3 didn't see degredation, it only saw improvement with speed. Quake 3 never came out as a rocket arena which was the most popular type of gameplay in the Quake series. Today it is still a mod. If you were to put boosters into T2, you would just about have completed the renegades mod.

Question is, you base people who are forcing yourselves to play, or those base who are thoroughly enjoying T2, why didn't you just play Renegades in T1 or force yourselves to like it? Just a question.

Last thing. Question? Does ping matter anymore in T2? I started out playing in beta and up until 2 weeks ago with 56k, and have noticed that my new 40 ping really gives no real advantage over a 180-200 ping I had before. Different type of network code?

Tequila you're still alive? my god..

Pendragon- yeah I feel that way too.. it's hard to lead a team in a game you don't have that inner fire burning for.

In general- All of this is just opinions folks.. You don't have to make someone love a game you do, or hate a game you do.. I'm glad people are enjoying it. I personally have tried to like it, and it has nothing to do with how well I'm playing it vs others really. I think ole Natural had a good point: you play a game for enjoyment, and since most of your time will be pubbing since matches don't occur every minute, they should be enjoyable as well. Unfortunately for me, it's not, many of the reasons already touched upon over the.. oh.. last 33 pages.

but that's ok
There'll always be new things
(WWII Blitzkrieg anyone? :))

I dont agree with everything that Nat said however I do believe that the gameplay has gone down hill and that even with all those years with 450 ping, T2 lacks the speed/rush that I dearly loved in T1. I think the biggest dissapointment of all is how the community has changed so much, and above all other flaws this is why I believe T2 doesnt even come close to the standards of T1 vets :(...

Geeezus. For the last time. IT ISN'T BECAUSE WE SUCK that we don't like T2. I'm not one of the best players but I can hold my own easily in T1 and T2. As a matter of fact the only people that own me consistantly are other T1 vets.

What it really boils down to is that the game isn't FUN for some of us man. I'm enjoying it somewhat but I haven't gotten any rush from the game that comes close to what T1 did for me. For me nothing compares to an ultra high speed chase trying to whore down a capper. Shrikes and Wildcats don't give me that. *shrugs*

I have fun with T2. I DM and play Hunters to work on my skills. I play competitive CTF because pub CTF sucks major ass which is kind of a bummer. I liked going into a T1 CTF pub and tearing it up. I was hoping T2 would let me have a bit of the same. Oh wells. :hrm:

It boils down to the fact that the people have been learning strats and techniques for 2 years and now they see that very little of that "t1 skill" has any use in T2. Becoming a newbie all over again is a humbling experience.

Madhatter. You're an idiot.

Twitch...

Reflexes...

Skill...

Thinking...

Strategy...

This game is a game about war, fighting. Fighting is game of reacting, thinking, being stronger, faster, tougher then the other guy.

Reaction. Twitch. The same thing. If you cant hang with that, most likely why you like T2.

Fact: I have made 45 second caps on LONG maps in T2.
Fact: They were still boring, and maybe one person caught up with me.

Fact: In T1 at full speed capping a Elf was a minor annoyance if I had speed.
Fact: In T2 your already draining yourself to get speed, an ELF absolutely kills.

T2 is so defense oriented its sickening. Those maps where the flag is down in a hole. Place 2 or 3 heavies with shields in there and nigh to impossible to route them. And even if you do the team spawns RIGHT there and it takes you to much time to get back.

Ive playd some enjoyable T2 games and scrimmed several times with some good teams. But I still feel forced to enjoy it.

I dont cringe at loading up T1, I click that icon and load it up, join a server and play.

Imbalances. I guess it pisses me off that some ass whips out a mine mid-air and MA's me to hell and back.

But then again ive done that before also.

Speed and skill are intertwined. Ive seen, and done things like DJ'd over hill going 300mph chaining teh capper the whole time to have him die a buddy pick up and me fly by and MA to return it.

T2 you just DONT have that happen. Hell if I get good ski on T2, which is ALOT slower then T1 (If you think its close to T1, your dreaming), no one is going to catch me.

And on the strats, new things are done all the time in T1.

Just because you dont have the reflexes to adapt, doesnt mean people arent trying it.

Nullper. You're an idiot.

Quake knock off?

What fucking game were you playing?

I dont need to say more, the whole "quake knock off" remark made me disregard any intelligent thing you said in your post.

T1 was weird. It was exactly like T2 at first - vehicle dependant at times, slow-going and hard to mount an offense. But the game evolved quite a bit from there. T2 is still in its infancy, and we can impact how the game goes - after all, we're the most vocal 10% of the community, right?

IMO the new scoring system in CTF is indicative of an underpowered offense and indicates serious balance changes that have to be made. Changing the way the game is scored is a placebo. I still fail to see why light armor needs a speed cap, it seems to be around ~230kph. A vehicle will ALWAYS be faster than on ground overall. Grav cycle is damn fast, and shrike almost as fast. The current state of "balance" favors vehicles too heavily to the point where the vehicle station becomes the most important asset in a match.

Teamwork is fine, but don't shove it down our throats and expect us to like it. The consensus is that we've been MA shocklanced by QIX b/c he's been telling us all along that he's listening to us?

No problem and I respect that, however to steal your words...

IT ISN'T BECAUSE WE SUCK that we *DO* like T2.

Some people like T1. I loved it at the time, but it got f'n old. T2 came out and Im having a blast playing.

Everyone needs to shut up and play whatever game they want to. You suck cause you play X vs Y. Its kinda sickening... its the Internet gamer's bigotry.

So Nat doesnt want to play T2, more power to him. So Rabid Leper doesnt want to play T2, more power to him. So I dont want to play T1, more power to me. Just do whatever the fuck you want to do and quit telling people they suck or they are stupid because they dont agree with you.

The *only* problem I have with Nat's post is that he comes on saying how T2 isn't right for him based on 8 hours of playing the game. Fine, the game isnt right for him, but for him to tell why the game sucks after *ONLY* 8 hours of playing? Gimme a break. At the start, I played T1 for 3 days nonstop hating the bitch because my friend Riddil told me I had to give it a real shot. Then it took me another 3-4 *MONTHS* for me to truly love the game (of course it took another year for me to get completely sick of it).

What honestly bothers me is all these "celeb's" posting how bad the game is because all you are doing is giving people a biased opinion. I will make a bet at least one person quit T2 because Nat isnt going to play. I will make a bet that someone is not going to give it an honest shot because some "celeb" out there told them it sucks. Let people make their own decisions.

Jesus, and let the damned thread die.

I cowboy cap all the time.

Even have done several where they had 3 or 4 lights and 3 or 4 heavies around the base.

Once you get to top speed and have any kind of lead, they cant catch you.

Havent met a Shrike pilot who could gun me down yet.
