PC-Cola, how can you compare T2 to T1 in terms of their first 3 months? First off, T2 had an IMMENCE beta process that lots of us played as much as we could before it crashed. When tribes 1 started it was completely unique... nobody even knew how to ski. Now T2 comes about and I honestly don't think there will be an incredible amount of 'hidden skill'. Maybe fast caps after jumping out of the grav cycle could become an art, who knows... but I'm not too interested.

I play in a scrim vs POE(i play for Wolfpack, cheek us out) and dount was just outside his base, i took out my chain gun about 75 metters back and chained him down. Then when the escorters were trying to pick up the flag, i cleared the flag with the grenade louncher and returned the flag. That is a great Defencive return. imo

PC, about 40 hours in beta and 10 hours now post release... and a ton of time speaking with members of IE and 5150 who have played a lot, and more... I've spent a lot of time putting together some of my reply posts here and don't think that my opinion is extremely unique.

Quick note: When people talk about teamwork in Tribes 2 vs Tribes 1, they're talking about squad-level and tag-team play dynamics, not simply coordination like T1.

FuFu, I'm saying it doesn't have to. There will be ways to revitalize the game.

Dave G went for mass appeal - congrats, you may be rewarded as a good business man - I suppose. Woopty do - you sold out the soul of the best game ever made.

Plenty of you dont think so, good for you.

This will always be a debate along the lines of conservative vs liberal, abortion vs pro-life, coke vs pepsi, ford vs chevy - and so on.

I am expressing my opinions in a very emotional and agressive manner - some of you I really do not like and I feel the need to let you know.

My reasons for dislikling T2 are quite lucent and rational and I could enumerate them, but they have already been enumerated.

Its quite simple really - many of us like FAST play - T2 is not FAST - many of you do not like FAST play - so I choose to look down upon you, insult you and address you as an inferior at every turn. This is how I feel about the issue - if you do not agree with me about the speed issue, you must like a slow game - I cannot imagine why you like slow play except that you are incapable at effective play when the game is moving at a faster pace - thus, I consider you less competent and I loath your lack of gaming prowess. I do not want to associate with you.

Fast play is a lot more challenging and difficult - some of you get frustrated and discouraged by that - that is fine, enjoy your T2 experience, you deserve some ammount of happiness in life.

Note that I do not consider you less valuable as a human, only less valuable as a gamer.

Thank you.

I get a different and more intense psychological reward with successfull play in the style currently dominant in T2 as opposed to the hopped-up-on-coke style of T1. It really has nothing to do with ability in either game.

I got Tribes 1 the day, I mean the DAY it was released. I learned to ski after one week of playing.

It had heart, soul and all that other stuff I said from day one.

Pen and Natural are right.

Pen is right because now all the skilless bastards have a game to call there own.

Natural is right because it doesnt take a whole lot of skill to hop in a cycle and cap. Especially since 90% of tribes players cant keep a cycle locked, and thats the only way to kill one.

Tribes 2 is Quake with a little bit of flying and skiing. Is that a bad thing? Nope. Alot of people will like it. Will it ever be as great as T1. Never.

JesseJames

PS Ive played T2 since the day it was released, logged about 60 or so hours so far. My opinions come from experience. And Natural is right.

you said it yourself nat, beta was a joke. couldnt play the game for more than 15mins(from what i hear) so dont tell me that you can make a desicion from that. And as for taking other peoples word for it.. I think that all the vets are coming off what the end result of t1 was, and not realizing what the t1 started off as. I think that they are alot the same. T2 needs time to evolve. give it time..

I hope you(imo one of the t1 leaders) would realize that t2 is still early, and that it will take longer to get better.
