Changing the scoring system, instead of fixing the balance of the O and D, sealed it for me: T2 sucks.

Look, ok the same *insert number* of opinions have been stated in this thread and 20 others.

dont look now but T2 is very "modable"

MAKE THE GAME YOU WANT TO PLAY OR STFU.

Nat....being the person you are, having the position that you have, on the team that your on.

You of all people could sway the community to the type of game you want. T1base-ctf is a game type. I havent played it so i cant say what its like.

Posting(whining) your opinions dont really get anything done.

I would enjoy faster pace but noone is playing any "mod".

Build it and they will come

and all the same aspect of T1 will be in T2, it just takes a while.. took T1 a while .

Being a person who made a career out of chaining, I can tell you that it would be your turn to stfu. The sheer amount of misconception that obviously went into this post makes the mind boggle. Please return to the forums after a long thinking period during which you figure out just exactly wtf you're talking about.

Heh, I wonder if Dave G gets a kick out of us arguing over which Tribes game is better. T1 was largely successful, so community members arguing over T2 in comparison could possibly please him.. who knows.

Anyways, the exploits of Tribes 1 made the game fun, and in Suicidetaxi's words, 'exhilirating.' Hell, heavy skiing, grenade spamming, beacon hanging (when it existed), mine-disking - all things that don't exist in Tribes 2 were part of what made Tribes 1 as intriging and exhilirating as it was and STILL IS. I wouldn't say that Tribes 2 has no soul, but I would say that if you compared Tribes 1 soul to Tribes 2 soul, it would be like comparing Damon Stoudamire to Shaq. Even though I've bought Tribes 2, and played it pretty extensively - I still play Tribes 1 just because the gameplay is so damn fun.

Hell, why not just revive the T1 ladders? I'd go for it.

Thats the point, T1 was NOT successful, it is like one of the biggest Warez games in history =/

True and some of the people who scream about T2 probably never paid for Tribes :hrm:

JohnClark: same here (I agree too). I can remember some T1 matches where I had to run outside for a quick smoke in between maps 'cause the last map was just insane. T1 to me was all about adrenaline, team play, communication, strats and fast furious action. Oh, skill too. There are too many gripes I have with T2 to even begin to compile a list. The funny thing is if a person was so inclined they could easily fix the balance issues by creating there own mod. Wouldn't take too much work to change the skiing, etc to build on T1's experience. I'm still in awe that they ignored so much of what made T1 such an awesome game.

Of course pubs were not amazingly intricate in T1's early stages...but it still had a hypnotic effect on anyone who played it. I can safely say that, even as a newbie in T1 when i first started playing, it was one of the most fun things i had ever played. You didn't have to own at Tribes to have a blast.

Yeah Jacks :(

I never use the F word.

I dont even like using it and I do regret it.

I may be off my meds a little this week - I dont really have anything against anyone - but I am tired of a lot of certain attitudes.

I am sick of people I have never heard of talking down to people I respect. I do not go out of my way to kiss the ass of so called "top teams" but I have met a lot of these people and I have played with them, around them and against them for a long time.

I am sick of people who say "deal or leave" - I dont want to do either - I want to examine, compare, evaluate, criticise and lobby and support change towards a Tribes paradigm that resembles what *I* think it should be. Be this Dave G having an epiphany (not likely) or some kind of mod or whatever. I reserve my right to bitch.

I do not like people telling me I need to give the game a chance, or play this or that - I have played the game plenty. I have played all the main positions and I can play them with competence - but like I keep saying, the game leaves me cold - it has no soul.

So - as for the flames - as mean as they sound, they are not really very honest. I am more sad about the game than anything else and certain people stoked my sadness into rage.

The teams I was on never made top 10 OGL - we came so damn close - but time ran out.

You can say what you want about T2 - you can love it - more power to ya. What I dislike more than the fact that I dislike the game - is that so many of the people who are my friends and acquaintences - they dislike the game too. Many march bravely on - but many do not. Disheartened, uninspired, they fade away. Surely new teams will rise up and claim dominance, that will always happen, but I would have liked to see it happen in a different environment - one where more of the old teams were still playing.

Beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder and as generations have come and gone, the definition of beauty has been molded by society and culture. The common culture of Tribes 1 is fractured, the community torn and many disheartened. I blame Dave G for the monstrosity - the Frankenstein monster as Special put it - beautiful to some, hideous to many.

I am bitterly disappointed in T2 - I want very badly to like it - but I can no more make myself like it than I can convice myself that ugliness is beauty or evil is virtue - that is how I see it - the game is flawed and broken and wrong.

Again - perhaps I overstate, it is just a game.

But now I have an evening job - a job is funner than T2...

bah

Lets see. Random unknown newbie that no one gives a shit about vs a T1 vet that is respected and one of the best players ever. I think you said it best here cept you're the target.

"But most importantly, no one cares what you think."

Welcome to Tribalwar.com rookie. You may now stfu. Have a day. :bigthumb:

Even though I don't echo Copro's opinion, I am going to stick up for him anyway. He's not quite a newbie. He's been playing Tribes since the month it came out. This may be not as long as Nat has, but he has played it for a very long time. He was in some successful Tribes teams and a very good sniper, so the "newbie" title would not apply in this case. Yes, he disagrees with Natural. Does this make him a rookie? No. Just sticking up for a friend. Thanks.

PS - this is like his 2nd TW account. He changed his account when he changed his name in T2 b/c it was taken.

I mean successful in terms of the amount of people it drew into the community - the fanbase. I do not mean in terms of overall sales.

:( Pendragon.

Wow.

You are so right. :o

T1 was about skill, heart, soul, speed, adrenaline, excitement, last minute caps, last minute one man defensive plays, flying through the air dueling chaining back and forth, MA'ing, speed speed, tactics, teamwork, love, hate.

Shit T1 brought out EMOTION. It had a vigourous, lively, healthy soul. It pumped blood through your viens, made you think, react.

T2 is a thinking mans game, thats fine. But its nowhere near what T1 was. A work of art. A Mozart, a Bach...a great symphony.

And all you dumb fucking morons who never saw, or listened in, or saw the demos or anything of IE and 5150 and S3. All those that werent on the ladder and talked to them, or met them. You can all go screw yourselves.

T1 could have been like say, the NFL. IE and 5150 like Walter Payton or Steve Young. People, groups, teams that you could mold yourself like and put yourself in there place if for just one week.

I made it to the top, like Natural, like 5150, like S3 etc etc. T1 matches at the highest level were fun just to LISTEN to.

No one can argue at all that T2 is slow, tedious and more like work then play.

Pendragon said it best:

"I am bitterly disappointed in T2 - I want very badly to like it - but I can no more make myself like it than I can convice myself that ugliness is beauty or evil is virtue - that is how I see it - the game is flawed and broken and wrong."

Your not wrong Pen. You to damn right.

And it sucks.

Tribes 2 is what Tribes 1 was supposed to be. A slower-than-Quake game that required teamwork. T1 turned into a game just like Quake, where one player could make all the difference. Tribes 2 is the first good attempt at a truely team based game.

Don't get me wrong, T1 was fun, but I welcome the teamwork required in T2 with open arms. I can learn to deal with the missile launchers and other new elements of the game.
