Setting up a printer to use over a network

I have a network of computers connected to the Internet through a router. Two of them are connected to printers via USB connections. I figured it should be a fairly simple task to give the other computers access to these printers. I went through the wizards in Windows XP and it didn't work. Am I missing something? Do the printers need to be connected to the router directly with an ethernet cable? Thanks in advance.

I set up a wireless Vista install to use a printer that's connected to my XP computer last weekend.

So, I was able to setup one of the printers successfully. All computers on the network can print to that printer. For some reason I can't repeat the success for the other printer. Two of the computers refuse to appear in the "My Network Places" even though I went through the Network Wizard.
