In his latest Entertainment Software Publishing and Retail industry report, Wedbush's Michael Pachter says that the "quality and quantity of the underlying available content" will be the key decider over the next-gen, giving the slight edge to the PS3 in this Gamasutra article.

See, I'm not biased, this is exactly what Sony fans wanna hear...

the only winner i want is the consumers. so long as multiple platforms are in place, there will be competition that ultimately benefits the consumers

yey, dudeofdeath posts completely meaningless news!

Anyways, Patcher is out of it. He (like all the analysts) pay the most attention to past performance, and not present conditions. He predicted the PS3 would be sold out until May.

i wouldn't really call that winning. dod is just slanting his titles in a different manner to "appease" sony fans.

Does this guy have a crystal ball or something? So far the 360 is way ahead in "quantity and quality" content (having a superior delivery mechanism in Live also helps).

Your title is misleading too since the article is about content on all platforms and not just the PS3.

the growing installed base for the PSP and continued robust PS2 software sales will make up for the third party shortfall.
This is a very strange statement to make. Considering the PSP is being spanked by the DS and is quite expensive. I'm not sure how he's translating PS2 software sales on to the PS3 considering how well PS2 hardware sales are going because of their price relative to the PS3.

This article as a whole doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I don't get it, if he's including PSP/PS2 sales then shouldn't DS/GBA sales be included in that same list? That would put Nintendo into an overwhelming lead.

Actually the article title was taken from Firing Squad and this article http://www.firingsquad.com/news/newsarticle.asp?searchid= 15379

It's good to see people discussing the news finally though, even if it's just crying and bitching some of the time. :) That is the TW way...
