if i drop armorsmithing

will i not beable to wear my Breastplate of kings anymore? since it requires Armorsmith? or will it still be able to cuz it's soulbound

want to go axesmith.. but not really ready to throw away my armor ;(

If memory serves you can, technically. Technically in that while you're wearing it and you drop armorsmithing the BP won't pop off you. But if you change your chest armor for whatever reason I don't think you can put it back on again. Don't quote me on that though, that's just based on how skill/honor rank-based gear was before they went to honor currency.

I crafted my Lunar Crescent today, slapped a Savagery on it. 1500 white crits on mage faggots. Pewpew.

Unless it says "Requires Blacksmithing (375)" you'll be fine.

I tried this when I switched weapon smithing specializations... I had the lionheart and switched to axesmith. Once I had paid the 100g and learned axesmithing the sword appeared red on my toon portrait and I couldn't use it. Probably the same deal with armorsmithing, but I hope not :(

you will not be able to wear the chest piece once you drop armorsmithing. the tier 1-3 bs weapons/armor all require the specific specialization to use.

what would be really cool would be for blizz to allow double blacksmithing professions. i would drop alch in a heartbeat to get that chest piece and still be able to use my thunder.

You're half right. You can continue to wear stuff as it won't pop off - but if for any reason you take it off, you can't put it back on. A lot of people used to do this with engineering goggles.

However what you aren't right about is not being able to wear the old pvp gear once you lost the rank. You only had to be X rank to buy it, not wear it. The gear never once said "Requires High Warlord" the way stuff says "Requires Engineering (340)".

actually as soon as you zone/log it turns red as if damaged and will no longer 'work' (i removed all my other equip and it didnt show the armor).

Also notewothy:
- You dont have to do the weaponsmithing quest if you dropped armorsmithing. it learn automatically :P wish i had known this and saved myself an hour farming the mats.

Awwww when did they fix that? I remember someone doing it with engineering goggles awhile ago and it worked fine.
