Shooting on VA Tech campus

I run through these scenarios every day. What I would do in the case of any number of emergencies from someone pulling a gun, someone walking towards me weirdly, someone robbing me, etc. It is standard operating procedure for a police force to be able to deal with a shooting in today's world. If a fucking 20 year old kid with two pistols can kill 33 what would they do in a case of a terrorist or other threat? It is your job to serve and protect, failing to plan ahead for situations like this rests squarely on their shoulders.
I love how you can criticize what the police did without even knowing what they did or knowing what they knew.

It would take 5 minutes to come up with a reasonable plan. It would take 5 minutes to coordinate a comprehensive plan with the school. What do these people do all day besides worry about stupid underage drinking?

Also note they had a killer on the loose 8 months ago and 2 bomb threats recently. They had the incentive and time to come up with some kind of plan in case of repeats/events. Hell, I know highschools that have intense security and go through school shooting training. The highschool I went to in bumfuck Arizona had ID cards on every student and an entire fence around the school, admitting people only at the beginning and ending of a school day.

Once there was someone who thought he heard a ticking and they locked down the school and called a bomb squad. Was a fucking CD player.

Remember the time that a kid stabbed several dozen people at a train depot in Berlin?? He had either a sword or a knife and stabbed like 40+ people before he got caught. WHY DIDN'T THE POLICE STOP HIM!!?!?

How do you plan ahead for this? You understand that they were following police procedure and tracking down a suspect based on eye witness accounts right? That search led them to Blacksburg...to some random guys house. Then the second attack happened. How are they suppose to know that was gonna happen? What the hell kind of police force could operate with this many ridiculous scenarios ?

I feel bad for the all the deaths at VT today. By law the students were not allowed to protect themselves on campus and were easy targets. See how well total gun bans work? If some professors and students were equally armed someone may have been able to take this guy out before he got through 32 people. This is a very sad situation.

I agree totally. Also my heart goes out to all the VT family's and those who lost their lives today.

7:15, Two shot dead in a dorm room, murderer on the loose on campus or near.
9:30 Email sent out to proceed with caution.
9:45 Asian male chains shut a door then proceeds to kill 30 people then himself over a period of minutes. The students inside had no warning of a murderer on the loose or a shooting earlier that day minutes away.

A warning ? A simple warning might have prevented it, maybe people might have noticed the first floor door chained shut? A suspicious suspect? Maybe shutting down the school for the day until they where certain it was SAFE!

If there was a shooting at disneyland and the shooter was not found, would they close down the park or keep it going suspecting he fled?

2 people shot dead and murderer on the loose is not a reason to have no caution or to "proceed as normal"
