Just a question. They can't make guns illegal, and they shouldn't. But why can't they make having an un-registered firearm a mandatory 1 year sentence or some crazy $10k fine or something. Then make getting a hand gun a lot harder with waiting periods and tests.

Eventually as the laws became stronger the border cases might think twice about getting a gun illegally. You will never eliminate the gangs and shit but if you just stop the fringe cases that would be huge.

What are you talking about? The constituation has been amended before (by, for example, the bill of rights) and it can be amended again. Though it'd be incredibly difficult politically, there's no legal problem with revoking/changing the first 10 amendments to the constitution. Assuming popular/legislative support, the 2nd amendment could be removed at any time.


I don't own a gun but I believe people should be allowed to own guns legally. The problem we have is that there's a shitload of illegal or questionable proliferation and a fuckload of people who feel like blowing away a handful of people before killing themselves is better than the alternative of living another day in their shitty, meaningless lives.

I can't imagine he's alive after all of the witnesses said he was shot in the head :( but not knowing 100% sucks.

i made a big thread a while back about how ridiculous it is that it takes me nearly a full year to get a driver's license, but 5 days to get a gun

seems like a mandatory education and safety program would do a whole lot. I'm not against people having guns, i'm just against them not being forced to learn gun responsibility before getting them. Then again, we'd just get a ton of really highly trained psychopaths

one thing i find really interesting was some of the initial reactions about how "if i were in that situation, i would have attacked him". And i'm not saying that people would/wouldn't have, but why do we assume that nobody did? Isn't it entirely possible that 5 or 6 kids did rush him and just got mowed down? Just making the attempt doesn't mean you'll be successful.

Also, assuming it was 1 shooter, which no longer seems like a safe assumption, what did he do for 2 hours? Was the campus closed off to re-entry? Isn't it possible that he drove off to get some ammo?

Coming out. I am not the shooter. Through this experience, I have received numerous death threats, slanderous accusations, and my phone is out of charge from the barrage of calls. Local police have been notified of the situation.

My original intention was to wait until I got AdSense on my site and donating all the proceeds to Charity. However, this situation has now spiraled out of control. I am now confirming that I am not the shooter. I will be available for interview by a news agency to clear my name, talk about the experience, and give my opinion on how the situation could have turned out better if other students were allowed to be armed. if 5-6 tried at one time the guy woulda been stopped, simple as that

i really dont think hed be able to kill 6 kids fast enough unless they were starting really far away from him

the only reason rampaging gunmen do this in schools is because they are easy targets with the most casualty potential that offers the least resistance. the guy who wasted that amish school even cited lax security opportunity being his motive for selecting that school in his suicide note.

School security was also weak at Dawson College.. the shooter didn't get a chance to kill more people because some cops happened to be in the cafeteria eating that day when buddy walked in with his carbine and they shot him

check out Rutgers University's security. 58 armed cops on duty 24/7 and various keycard access to every building. just enough security to make it unattractive to rampaging lunatics

From the reports of the kids in the German class he just came in and started shooting--methodically. They didn't have time to react other than duck and get behind desks or play dead. They had their wits enough to get up and block the door so he couldn't come back in. But that was only 3 people in a 25 person class...everyone else was dead or dieing. He was trained or knew how to handle a gun.

The problem would be getting 5 or 6 people together to do it. The fight or flight response is a weird thing. Plus, how many of your classmates in college would you have trusted with your life?

if the reported time of the shooting is accurate, this is correct. Class would run from 9:05-9:55 today. The next class wouldn't start until 10:10 so students wouldn't have a reason to be in the halls that early. There really isn't a way to mob someone by running through a normal size door.

Stricter gun laws would not have stopped what happened today from happening. Plain and simple.

Australia had a massacre back in 97 (or around then). Immediately massive action was taken and thousands of guns were handed in and destroyed.

Since then, no massacre. Gun crime, yes of course - Melbourne has had quite a lot of gangland murders.

But no campus shoot ups.
