...to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer? Will you love her, honor her, comfort her, and keep her in sickness and in health; forsaking all others, be true to her until death do you part?
Think he asked her to marry him and she said no?
orbital 123 04-16-2007, 09:53 PM It's obvious the problems is twofold.
1) easy access to guns - They need to make it extremely difficult to get a weapon. It should include a psychological evaluation before purchase and psychological evaluations ever few years after that as well as background checks that include interviews with family and friends about the person who wants to buy a weapon. If they pass all of the required criteria then they can purchase a weapon otherwise no. Secondly they should require weapons to be locked and unloaded at all times while in the house or in a vehicle or on a person. This makes it more difficult for a person if they snap to just grab a weapon and start firing at people. Having to load a weapon or having to try to smash or unlock a weapons box gives another person time to do something about it. These are just a few of the steps I think should be taken. I doubt that the so called founding fathers were talking about hand guns and assault rifles when they were writing the constitution and you had front loading rifles with powder and metal balls.
2) A failure of society - Allowing teasing and other abuse in schools treating kids like shit then you have movies where people solve all their problems with guns and you encourage violent behavior in numerous ways, it's no wonder that these kids strike out with violence to solve their problems. It's definitely not just the parents and in many cases I would say that the parents aren't to blame at all. There are only so many warning signs and they aren't always there or the signs are missed.

Bullshit. We have had guns in this country since its inception. There has been easier access to guns than there is today, and only as of late are these kinds of shootings coming up.
2) A failure of society - Allowing teasing and other abuse in schools treating kids like shit then you have movies where people solve all their problems with guns .
Bullshit. there have always been bullies, there has always been teasing and abuse. And today we baby children so much everytime someone says something to them they get expelled. If anything kids today hear and experience WAY less than previous generations...and there were not these incidents of this amount in those times.
Parents need to do their jobs. Its not the job of the government, its not the job of the school. Its the job of the parents to equip their children with the psycological tools required to interact with humans on a day-to-day basis.

If it wasn't for that troublesome constitution thing, you could force a better country on us.
Baby Bew 04-16-2007, 10:00 PM Orbital you have been made fun of so much on these boards that you are a living contradiction to your theory.
Unless you plan on shooting some people. Are you? You seem like the most peaceful guy on here.

Neither of those things would stop anything. Remember what happened when prohibition was passed? And you call americans ignorant of history.

are you that fucking retarded?
i'll just throw these 2 scenarios out there to debunk your stupid shit.
1) just go to someone's house who has a gun and get it.
2) grew up as the popular guy in school. everyone liked him. then the love of his life cheats on him and he goes out and shoots up a school in the midst of his anger at life.
you can't fix this shit...people need to stop coming up with bullshit solutions and accept the fact that SHIT HAPPENS.
:|:ArcaneGel 04-16-2007, 10:03 PM I am sure somewhere in this huge thread, someone mentioned the fact that if one or more of the students had a CCW permit they might have changed the outcome.
The fact is, the guy could have used any number of methods to to kill a bunch of people. He could have just lobbed a home made pipe-bomb into the class room and cleaned up that way.
I am sure we are going to hear about how he played counterstrike and first person shooters etc. How bad guns are. All the normal stuff.
The fact is, the guy was a ruthless killer and a colossal dipshit. It's easy to point our fingers at everything else but the truth. The truth is that our society is churning out more and more agressive, ruthless dipshits who don't give a fuck whether they live or die. I believe each one of these occurences speaks volumes about our current society. If we add up the murders in our own country, that number far exceeds any damage done by "terrorists". So tell me again, why are we spending billions upon billions of dollars outside of our country? Isn't it time that we concentrate on making America a better place to live again?
How about lower taxes, higher pay, and more reasonable rates for the basic things we need to survive? How about more money spent on education? How about we each take on the responsibility to raise our children correctly without subjecting kids to broken homes and various forms of hell created by different forms of addiction and abuse?
This type of event underscores just how crazy and out of control we can be as a nation. When I was growing up, a murder was a rare occurence. A serial killer was huge news. Now, mass killings are becoming commonplace and make the death count of a serial killer look like childs play.
Where are we going, America? And, will it be worth it when we get there?
Well said.

1) easy access to guns
the goth kid that shot up Dawson college in Canada last year was legally armed with a Beretta Cx4 Storm carbine, a Glock and a Norinco HP9-1 short barreled shotgun. It took him forever to get them but he had all the permits.
KiNgPiN 04-16-2007, 10:06 PM I better have a fully updated report on my desk in the morning.
