Shooting on VA Tech campus

calling 30,000 people really is that complicated and time consuming.

like i said earlier the local sports radio has a mass texting thing to update people on cowboys signings and what not

To the people who are saying they would charge at the shooter and try to do something.

However your initial instinct is to not aggravate the shooter. You try to hide or play dead so as to not provoke him. If you knew that you were going to be shot then obviously that's not a smart thing to do. However, it's not possible to know that ahead of time.

It makes it even harder to do anything if the room is locked/chained.

It makes it even harder if you're far from the shooter. By the time you reach him he will shoot you. If you are close then you have to find a way that he doesn't see you as he approaches you and then you jump him and try to knock the gun away.

VT doesn't have that sort of thing. There are local radio stations based in Roanoke but most student's don't listen in the morning. Again, email is the easiest way to contact the student body and everyone knows that. For example, the VT homepage and email is how you learn about weather cancellations. Due to the volume of people that need to be contacted that is the best way to do things. Often, when someone didn’t get a message, it’s because they didn’t/forgot to check email.

Well I understand why the police/other officials aren't releasing the name.
