I check my email before I leave my apartment everyday because sometimes profs will cancel class or they will send you a file or something you need for that days class.

yeah but you gotta admit a warning system consisting of emails is pretty fucking retarded

How else do you propose they warn everyone? There isn't a feasible system that would warn all students..email is the best imo. A campus wide PA system like for tornados might work..but that doesn't help the kids that live off campus.

mass texts? we have a local sportsradio station that does mass texts for big signings and what not

i mean something, who checks their email at 7am before they hop off to class?

a college student?

At VT, it's the main form of communication for most classes and for the University. Everyone at the school knows and understands this.

they could! there are horses up near the on campus frat houses. They could get some ROTC guys to run over there and mount up.

It has worked before. Or they could have just had teachers pulling out their concealed weapons and firing into the sky wildly. Im sure that would have warned em.

i dont go to class with my laptop

i do with my cell and can get texts easy

it cant be that complicated

do both, hell.

do everything you can do get the damn word out is all im saying

i understand that they thought the first shooting was isolated but if a bomb threat can close down a school then a killing damn sure should shut it down no matter what you might 'think' about the reasoning behind it : /

calling 30,000 people really is that complicated and time consuming.

Yes, concealed carry causes lower violent crime. Violent crime = shootings, assaults, etc...

If I were going to shoot up a school, I'd pick one that didn't have guns on campus, rather then one where someone could shoot me before I killed a lot of people.

People don't pick and choose a school to do something like this at, their situation leads them to do it at that location. The kids from Columbine didn't go "Lets pick a school that will give us the best tactical advantage so we can maximize our kills."
