I have been telling you guys stuff as i find out. The scanners have pretty much died down and they basically evacuated the academic side of campus so the reports i was relaying from friends that were there have sorta stopped.

Yes. Look, as this incident perfectly exemplified, cops are not there to protect you from harm. They are there to respond to incidents of the law being broken. I'm sure any number of TW cops will back that up.

If you want to ensure your safety, the only way is to do it yourself.

Of course if everybody has guns, there could be more incidents from innocent bystandarders being in the way. But if you want to prevent these type of rampages, the only way is to arm the population.

It's either:

1) Nobody but cops have guns, and lots of people die when somebody goes crazy
2) Everybody has guns, with isolated incidents of people getting shot after getting roudy, with innocent bystanders being shot.

Choose which one you want....you can't have both... at least that's my opinion.

All I'm saying is that the students could have SHOT the locks off the doors. Guns are TOOLS, not WEAPONS.


Man, just think, if a teacher or one student had a gun, there might have been 100 times more school shootings EVERY YEAR! Not to mention crimes, dead cops etc etc etc. Opportunist criminals with guns? Good idea man, good idea.

132 is Norris (2nd Shooting)

Look at that map and understand something about the size of VT. He could have walked in to any of the Red, Blue, or yellow colored buildings and no one would have cared. With the exception of Lane Stadium and Cassel Coliseum no one would have cared if he went in any of the orange colored buildings as well and even then if you just kind of wander out you can get on the football field before someone will say something (I know from experience). There is no way they (Blacksburg and VT police departments) could have locked down campus without outside help. In addition, I don't think it's reasonable to assume a massacre of this scale was going to occur after the first event. It looked like an isolated crime of passion.

The guy shot someone in the Dorm. Hid out for 2 hours. Chained up the doors on the bulding. Shot ~60 people then killed himself.

Exactly. If there is a shooting on campus, everything should be locked down until the perpretrator is apprehended and removed from the college. How can they just communicate this shit through email? They needed way more security and police.

Students cannot have firearms or any weapons with which to defend themselves, so they need to be protected by security and police. When a violent crime like a shooting goes down, there needs to be an immediate lockdown of everything on that part of the campus and restrictions on moving to other parts of the campus everywhere else.

Two hours after someone is murdered nothing happens? That's absurd.

Clearly lockdowns failed, the kid played the system - why not stage a shooting (like he did) and then go with the bomb? Or the other way around, do the shooting on the evacuation from the bomb threat. We really need to rethink these policies - they aren't working and they set students up for mass casualties.

Proper training in order to get a concealed weapon permit is required. Criminals can easily obtain guns without going through these channels.
