Shooting on VA Tech campus

The word is that he and his gf were having a fight, a RA tried to intervene and he killed both of them, then went and shot up his 1st hour class.........

However, that doesn't make sense if it was 2 hours between the shootings, he locked the doors etc..

I thought he was from a different school. Radford or something.

Tragedy to be sure, but I also do not know why someone did not rush this guy when everyone was lined up and the shooting started. At least make an attempt because you're dead anyway! I really hate to be critical of those murdered by this hideous subhuman monster, but really..

If a guy lines up a dozen or so people, and then starts shooting them in the head one by one, you'd think by the 3rd person someone would rush him. Instead they "play dead"

i know it is tough to face, but the reality of this is that if some nutjob wants to shoot up a bunch fo people in a normal and functioning society, it really isn't preventable. This kind of stuff is really quite easy, the hard part is mustering up the will/insanity to do it, not the execution. There really aren't any security measures which can be put in place, short of massively violating everyone's civil liberties

I think I've accounted for everyone I knew there - thankfully.
This is so messed up, people are right that there is no way you can stop these sorts of things, but that doesn't make it any easier on the families.

That is totally ridiculous... 30+ killed? Where were the police? Where was campus safety? Why didn't they shut the place down after the first few people were shot in the dorms?

The best part is that America will pretend to be all heartbroken and melodramatic and shit for the next month, when in reality, they don't give a rats ass.

Your average suicide bombing in Iraq is far more tragic than this, but this story will get far more coverage for the next month than all of the worlds suicide bombings combined.

This is why the only practical solution is to require everybody to carry a weapon at all times, teach everybody how to respect such a weapon, and how to use it effectively. Also, of course, make sure they know when to use it, and when not to use it...

I know that's not a popular idea, and of course people will point out drunk/stupid people will run around wildly shooting random strangers, I ask how exactly is that different from what just happened? If only those students trapped in those rooms had handguns with which to fire back.... perhaps they could have dropped the bastard before he took out so many.

i don't know but i'm sure tw armchair police officers will be on it!!

The only way we could get that type of police force in the area would be to either get all the local police from the counties there or call up the National Guard.
